Suggestions for Touch Screen Compatible Gloves

593 Views 11 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  bajakirch
I'm tired of having to stop the bike and pull off a glove every time I need to adjust something on my iPhone (which I use for navigation, music/podcasts, weather, etc.). Can I get some recommendations on gloves that have good touch screen compatability?

I prefer leather gloves, and probably would like something with good ventilation for summer riding.

Price-wise, I'd like to keep it at $100 or less.

Thanks!

Use aluminum thread to make any glove touch screen friendly. It only takes a few minutes and there are several u tube videos on how to do it.
Stopped looking for gloves a long time ago. Half the time they didn’t work, and I actually ruined a group of pixels on the screen of a previous iphone, trying to get the damn thing to respond.
Here is my fix. Tie a piece string as a lanyard within touching distance of the phone, and be done with finicky gloves. Pass the other 19 out to your friends, or keep a couple of spares in a pocket.

I’ve got a set of Klim Induction gloves and I love them.

Agreed - stylus is absolutely the best approach, and I'll say it any time this topic comes up.

Stylus on a lanyard/tether is way less than OP's target of $100, and will work in all types of weather with any and all gloves.

I've had a couple pair of gloves with those touchscreen fingertips. They were awful. When they worked - which wasn't always - they were frustrating in their lack of precision. It was like trying to sign my name with a Sharpie Magnum:

Sharpie Magnum Permanent Markers, Oversized Chisel Tip | Sharpie

I got fancy with my stylus on the FJR. Taped a small magnet to it. That way I can stick the stylus to my tank when it's not being used. The tape protects tank paint from the magnet.

It's still best to stop if I need to use the touchscreen, but at least it's not a frustrating mess and I don't need to take off my gloves.
Just got these in the mail. They fit like post apocalyptic golf gloves (a good thing) and feel like a quality production well thought out option. Definitely order at least one size up.

OK, I'm convinced the stylus approach may be my best universal option.

But I've added a couple pairs of gloves to my Christmas list. ;)

I have a pair of joe rocket summer type cloth gloves. The do pretty good.

I tried these on a pair of old gloves. Add a contact patch to your glove tips. They work. If you like your old gloves this could be an option
I apologize in advance for not really having an answer to the question, and not trying to derail the thread, but it occurs to me that doing this while riding is the same as those who do it in their cars, about whom we complain.
Just sayin'.

I would never suggest anyone mess with their phone while actively riding. For me, it's more for when I'm stopped at a light or pulled over on the side of the road. I'm hopeful I can come up with a solution so I don't have to pull off a glove every time.
