I just got a MINT 2020 DL 1050XT. On my other bike (Victory Vision) I have a strobing brake light. Is there such an animal designed to be plug and play for the V-Strom? thanks for any help.

They make after market strobe brake light controllers.
google “ Motorcycle strobe brake controller “.
They come in both types LED and none.
They are not legal in all 50 states.

so you get the controller to make existing lights strobe, vs adding lights?
Yes you can buy "just a controller" to connect with your existing lights, or
You can buy a controller that comes with additional LEDs that can also be connected to your existing LED brake lights, for more visibility.
If you have the incandescent light bulbs you need to buy a "NON LED" controller.
I have one of these, super bright and customizable. They also have the "photon blaster" series for front and rear.

There is also Admore brand, they have a built in decelerometer that will start blinking even when you rapidly slow down, without touching your brakes.
Introducing the all new AdMore Light Bar Pro, with Bluetooth and Smart Brake TechnologyTM, incorporating a sophisticated accelerometer sensor to detect rapid deceleration (from throttle release or downshifting) and will activate the Light Bar brake light automatically.
Enhance your safety and reduce the risk of a rear-end collision by having your AdMore Light Bar Pro illuminate even before you apply your brakes!
The AdMore Light Bar Pro comes pre-configured with the most popular options and settings and is ready to go out of the box. Customizing many of the functions and settings can be easily accomplished by using the AdMore App on your smart phone (available for download on iOS and Android).

You also get bulbs off of Amazon that just plug and play, without the need for a controller. I've got them on my 2014 and they work great!

And have a way to turn off the strobing lights. Super annoying to your buddy riding behind you.
I bought this one:

The very big advantage is the deceleration switch. Depending on which downshift and what rpm, you can get a ton of deceleration from downshifting.....but no brake lights. It has a couple modes so you can adjust the sensitivity somewhat. The LEDs are not particularly bright, which I was a bit disappointed by. Others might see that as an advantage.

Technically illegal in Michigan but I have never seen it enforced. I think some cars come with a flashing 3rd brake light or similar safety feature these days. That makes it even less likely that it will be enforced. Your mileage may vary.

The Volo is listed at over $130. I don't recall paying nearly that much, and certainly there are a lot of other options out there for less money. Also, the support from the company is almost non existent or actually non existent. It was not at all obvious how to switch between modes with the big magnet they included. We eventually figured it out, but no thanks to Volo.

I am awaiting the arrival of the MAGIC STROBES UNIVERSAL BRAKE LIGHT FLASHER to install on my 2022 Wee
I have one I installed on my 2013 Victory XCT and am very happy with it and the pattern I chose.

Dusty
I put a Backoff XP on my vstrom and my ZX-11. Easy install, flashes 5 times and then stays solid.
I have an Admore light bar on my 650. It flashes 3 times when you hit the brakes, then a timer kicks in that prevents it from flashing if you put the brakes on again right away. It also has a sequential turn signal. It is Super Bright.

Cool idea, there was only one review, says do not work all the time. Bummer I was going to buy them.
I have Hyperlites, you can mount them just about anywhere, still retain the original brake light for being legal.

These don't flash by themselves, but can be wired to a flasher unit.

Technically, about half of this in the back of my Connie is not legal, (including the 3M white reflective panels) but I've been followed by every flavor of LEO here in Washington State, and none have ever pulled me over.

I put the same 3M stuff on my side cases also. Amazing how well they reflect back at night and almost unnoticeable during the daylight.
