I've been using a Garmin 60C with a RAM mount on my DL650 and have an opportunity to buy a StreetPilot 2820 from a relative who's upgraded to the latest and greatest. I see that everything but the cradle and power cord from my 60C set up is usable if I convert. As far as the power cord it looks as if I just need the 2820 compatible cable end with only the 12 volts wired (I have no use for the power cable audio arrangement). Does anyone here have experience with the 2820 and can verify the above would care to share the pros and cons of the unit itself. Thanks

It's a good GPS. I've been using one for the past year. The cradle and power cord are what you need. The cradle should mount to the RAM plate. The power cord is the same for the 26xx, 27xx, and 28xx series and are relatively easy to find. They are about $30 and you're only going to find them with the audio connector as far as I know.

Have you used the Bluetooth for turn by turn to a helmet speaker?
By the way, kudos on your website, my son rides a VFR800 as well.
Funny, I just had to order another cable for my VFR ;)

No, I haven't used Bluetooth for my speakers but I do use ear plugs. My Bluetooth headset is NOT comfortable under a helmet. The tuen-by-turn does work quite well though, and unlike some of the older models it specifically says the name of the road for the upcoming turns. Instead of saying something like, "In 5 tenths of a mile, turn left." it will say something like "In 5 tenths of a mile turn left on Skyline Drive". That doesn't sound like much but when you are in a congested city with streets that are close together is really makes a difference.

Glad you enjoyed the web site. It's a work in progress and will probably never get finished ;)
