OK, thanks for your input. This is a great forum

Here is my problem...
2007 Wee, 34K miles
Starter bairly kicks on a little when starter button is pushed.
When I get it started, front lights do not work, back lights, brakes do work.
Dash, speedo, tach all work normal.

Turn the key on and everything clicks on (comes to life) as normal.
But it wont start...I checked connections everywhere I could.

So...starter? generator? battery?

hmm if your concerned about the battery or charging system.... it's a good idea to buy a multimeter, they are about 30 bucks at radioshack and always come in handy. I've had my el cheapo radioshack multimeter for about 10 years now.

Try jumping the bike battery from a car battery without running the car engine. Let us know how that works.

A multimeter is an important tool to have, but it won't tell you the condition of a battery. Your battery may very well show the proper voltage, yet lack the current capacity to start the vehicle.

Having the battery load-tested is the only way to determine its condition. Most places that sell batteries can do this for you.

giving a try

Thanks, I will try the jump suggestion...
Might just need a charge on the battery, or a new one.

It was 104 degrees here in Austin today. Drought conditions extreme.

Almost to hot to ride...almost...

Did the clock reset itself? Or did it display dashes where the time is normally displayed. This is typically the signs of a weak or about to fail battery.

fixed

Jumper cables did not work.

The problem was the starter button was dirty. Contacts were missing their mark and fouling the headlight as well as not starting.

Fixed now back on the road...
