Started working on my 12V powered side chute blocker on my new Hustler Raptor XD to be able to get rid of the humungous OEM plastic chute flapper.

11ga plate steel for the flapper - 4-5/8" x 17"
9-1/2" piece of 1-1/4 x 1/8" angle iron (main frame for the motor mount)
2-2/8" piece of 1-1/4 x 1/8 flat stock (main frame of the motor mount)
1 - Dorman right side window motor for a 1997 Olds Cutlass Supreme 742-141 (Auto Zone)
3/4 x 36 x 3/16" flat stock (Hinges and actuator arms)
2 - 3/8" x 1" cap bolts and nylock nuts (hinge)
2 - 5/16" x 3" stove bolts (hinge spacer)
5 - 1/4-20 x 2 cap bolts and nylock nuts
1 - pack of nylon washers (slides between the actuator arms and hinges)
1` - 7/8" shaft collar (adapter for the star drive gear on the window motor)
1 - snap in on/off/on momentary rocker switch
36" of red/black wire
6 - 1/4" spade connectors
2 - ring terminals

Waiting on the switch to arrive then I'll tidy up the wiring and I also want to take the fabricated steel parts to work to bead blast prior to painting.

Wow! Major farkle! Great job.

Thank you. I was going to buy a unit from Power Chute for $377:oops: but talking with them they did not have a mounting system for my mower yet. They wanted to send me a bunch of unfinished parts for me to cut, chop and manipulate to make it work for my mower. It also sounded like they still wanted to charge full price. The more I thought about it and after watching a few YT videos I decided to just roll my own. All said and done I have $52 in the window motor, $17 for a switch, $9 in bar stock and around $20 in hardware, the big plate was free but even if you had to buy maybe $25ish. So for about $100 and some time doing what I love to do (create things) I'm happy.

FWIW I mowed my lawn the other day and it took 11 minutes 22 seconds. Down from about 18 minutes with the 48" deck.

Cheers,

It takes me longer to walk my tiny little suburban lot with my push mower, I'd say that's worth a lot.

If I did that this time next year my portfolio has the potential to be increased by several tens of dollars :ROFLMAO:

My design is free to all who can or want to use it.

What the world needs is more Lances!
Nice mod. I hate when my OEM plastic chute flappers are humongous.

Assuming you already have your heated grips and seat, where are you going to mount your aux lights?

I have a pair of LED's in the garage waiting to be installed. I've got to wait for my foot pedal roscker swithc to come in so I can put the light switch where the chute rocker switch is now :)
