My 2012 wee has never had any problems before this. It (over the last year) would randomly ride weird where the acceleration would feel like I had the brake on 15% or so. Then, when I go to let off the throttle and shift, the engine dies while I am riding. I can rev up the RPM's high enough to make it into second gear, but no matter my speed or RPM when I let off and shift into third- the engine stalls out (even with the clutch still in so it hasn't even tried to engage yet). It did this maybe twice over the year and rode perfectly every other time, I ride multiple times every day. It is now doing it every time, and so I can't ride it. I know it isn't the clutch because it works just fine in every other sense (1st and 2nd and N etc.) I don't think it is a sensor or throttle body because of no problems with idle and such. I am thinking it is possibly something with the fuel system (maybe a clogged fuel filter?), but I am kind of at a loss. Also, it should be noted that I do not observe or hear an exhaust leak, or any leak in a line that I can find. It DOES have an Akra 3/4 exhaust that I put on a little over a year ago (built for no tune required as stock-which it is), but it has ridden hundreds of times perfectly since then. I double checked all of the connections just to do my due diligence, but I am fairly convinced that is not the problem. Anyone experienced this? Thanks.

I had a problem recently with my 2015 DL650 XT with 38k where the fuel delivery would choke out and start to surge at various throttle positions dependent on how much fuel was in the tank. It only started at about half tank and got progressively worse as the fuel level dropped, until it was basically doing it at any RPM level with about a gallon left. I pulled the fuel pump assembly and found the fuel strainer was totally black and completely gooked up. I would start there if I were you, and also pull the air filter while you have the tank off and clean or replace that. Cleaning those solved my problem until I could source a replacement filter.
