Specifications

I have just purchased an 09 to replace my 02 which has been written off. Question, are the tunings specs for an 09 the same as an 02 or should I purchase another workshop manual for an 09 model. The two bikes are very similar and the old manual should be good for most work but I would like confirmation on tuning eg are timing marks the same, are tappet clearances the same, do they run the same plugs etc.

Here are the evolutionary changes. Very minor.

2003 (K3) Added fork pre-load adjusters. Alternator output increased from 350 watts to 400 watts. New clutch slave cylinder dust cover, later production models.
2004 (K4) Redesigned instrument cluster. Upgrade 16-bit to 32-bit ECU, some sensors changed. New turn signals, 20 watt without reflector compared with earlier 10 watt. Belly pan redesigned. Stronger hand guards are attached to the end of the handlebar. New adjustable windscreen design. The left handlebar switch incorporates flash-to-pass & emergency blinkers (EU models already had this). Stronger handlebars. Revised mirrors for less mirror breakage.
2005 (K5) Silver frame revised to the black frame. Black rear frame covers vs previously fairing colour. New quiet clutch cover. Headlight interrupts when starting.
2007 (K7) New clear turn signal lenses and new swingarm pivot covers.

Thanks
I assume that you agree that the timing specs haven't changed.

Having ridden the K9 a few hundred km and now realise that the old 02 clutch was a bit of a handfull. Still good practice for clutch feathering. The K9 bike in general is just a bit better all round.
