Hello all,
Ok, I need to change my handle.. I no longer have my beemer. But I have a new to me '05 V-Strom 1000 w/13.5k miles. I need to change the oil on it, as well as the tires. I need to inspect the chain and hubs(i think??). I want to do as much myself, to leave more money for farkles ;) So, any of you want to offer garage space and knowledge, that would be great!! I have a house, and only have a shed that I keep my bike in for the moment. I would be happy to pay someone directly for help(tires?), instead of the stealership. Or food and drink.. Plus, the camaraderie is what it's all about.

Thank You,
Alex

BTW, I'm in the chicagoland area. Des Plaines to be exact.

Hi Alex,
I'm in the crystal lake area about 50 minutes from you. You are more than welcome to come here and wrench on your bike. I have a fairly complete set of tools, a HF tire changer, lube and all the other stuff you need. I am really liking working in a garage instead of outside now too. Plus I just added a good air compressor and tools so we can tackle anything. Oil changes and such are a piece of cake. I change my own tires/chains/valves/brake fluid and whatever else comes up. Let me know if you are interested. We do have to be a bit more careful on the tire changes to not scratch them. Early on I knew I wouldn't care if I nicked the edges, but you may want to keep your's looking new :) I have the plastic guards that go around the side. I have plenty of wheel weights, but no fancy static balancer just a pair of jackstands and the axle. I have a WEE so there are a few things different, but not much. I love to wrench on bikes.

I'm 3 miles off a I-90 exit so it should be really easy to get too. Pm me for cell# and address.

Alex, that is an offer you should not refuse. It is nice to see a fellow Land of Lincoln Strom Troopers helping each other out. Most maintenance is really just having the faith in yourself after someone has shown you what to do. Good luck you guys.
