I have some fairly large soft bags that I used on another bike. They have a foam pad that goes between the bag and the bike. The question is, if that rests on the exhaust pipes (I have a DL1000), will it melt or are the pipes cool enough to not burn the bags?

I'm trying to save some cash by not buying some type of rack to hold them away from the pipes.

I'm leaving next weekend and won't have time to fabricate something. It's either overnight it and bolt it on or just go with what I have.

Any thoughts?

I have the cortec and the pad works fine with the aluminum covers over the pipes.

I have noticed however, that the sun will destroy the bags over time. I just had to remove mine. Keep in mind I park in the shade at work when I can, garage at home always and cover during the rain. So, basically if you ride in AZ the sun will eat your stuff....

Not stopping me from getting a new set of cortec bags... just an excuse to get the red ones this time.....
