Hi Jack,

Unless I am overlookingthe obvious, the link doesn't talk about the intended use for the tires. It talks a bit about cornering but are these tires for performance, touring, offroad (I doubt that) or what?

The Maxxis ad in Cycle World says "Radial Adventure Touring Tire" with a picture of a V-Strom!

Also says "For higher mileage & exceptional handling on & off the beaten path"

It appears that they were made for the Stroms. The only sizes they list are the Strom sizes:

110/80 R19
150/70 R17

So who's gonna try 'em and report back?

Jack,

I would be quite happy to do just that.

I'll send along a PM with my mailing address so you can ship me a set.

Then I'll mount them and ride them until they wear out and report back.

Will that work for ya'?

Got my interest peaked, but I'm not willing to do the "Lab Rat" work on my trip to Coldfoot this summer. I'll wait for some others to put miles on them to see how they hold up. Tread pattern looks more aggressive than most.

Well I can say I did not like them. They act just like the stock brigdestones that come on the bike from the dealer.
I had a set of Mez. M3's that I wore out and tried these......for about two weeks. Toke them off and burnt them. Then I when out and bought the new Mez. M4's.

They have a good pattren and long life as they say, but they push threw the corners to much for me. There is less noise than the M3's.
The new M4's are very quite now and roll even better and hold the turns.

M4's for the V............

You burnt them? You must have been pretty disappointed. I would have sold them to someone I didn't like for more than they're worth.

I wouldn't have expected the Detours to be as good as the M3 or M4 on pavement. I was wondering how they would compare to the other adventure touring style tires.

Yes, I was kinda wondering how they stacked up in the mileage department. I've not very concerned about seeing how fast I can go around a corner on the street. Got that out of my system years ago on race tracks. ;-).
I do know that 6K miles and my stock Trailwing was bald in the middle. Now have a Tourance on the rear. The front Trailwing seems to be holding up good but I have a new Distanza in stock for it in my shop when the time comes.

I don't really rail the bike but i do come from a sport bike back ground.
I like tires that have a bit of a stick to them. The Torrance tires do this for me. I got 13000 miles out of the M3's, so I'm hoping for the same for the M4's. When the m3's started to wear out they cupped real bad towards the end. They say they have taken care of that with the M4's....well see.

The tires you folks are talking about do have a long life for tire whare, but they do not grab the road and they will push threw corners even at Med. speeds. I sure they will handle the off road fine. I took them off the bike before I went off road with them. For the cruzer type rider these would be fine.
I like to ride a brisk ride and the M4's work fine for me on the road as well as off.
As every rider know's it's to each his own to find the tire and ride pace that suits themselfs.

Jack,

BTW, do you have a tracking number?

I've checked each day, but the tires have not shown up just yet.

What we have here is a total diregard for the English grammar.
This coming from a foreigner and having my own share to deal with.
Let's pay attention out there, please.

Check under the boat, I think UPS left them there.
