I took advantage, of the buy a new 2011 DL650A, and get luggage for $199. So the luggage comes in, and I go down to pick it up. The luggage, and the side mounts are there but there's no topcase mount. I was explaining to the parts manager that I know I read that you need the topcase mount..there was still a new 2011 DL650A on the floor and I showed him..there's no place to screw in the side mounts..the rear rack is solid. He calls someone at Suzuki, and then has to call the regional parts manager. He didn't answer so he left a message. As soon as I drove off with the parts they had, the parts manager calls me and says the regional parts manager called him and said I have everything I need, and go home and see if it works. Well there's still no holes in the rear rack so I have no clue how it would work. Then I found where I read it..probably other than on this site. Suzuki's own website:

So if you took up their deal, make sure you get the topcase mount. Hopefully it's small enough and will fit in my backpack..really don't want to drive my truck through traffic another 50 miles round trip for a part that should have come with it in the first place. Oh I did tell the shop's parts manager to tell the regional guy..if he's wrong he owes me a topcase~!! hahahaha :thumbup:

Unless the rack has changed the standard rear rack has a removable cover that just pops off and exposes all the holes that can be used for mounting top cases.
If it's a Givi style top case mount they are giving you it will almost fit in a jacket pocket there will be no issue at all with a backpack.

The deal from Suzuki was for the side cases only...so I guess I just wait till they sort it out.

i have read of more dumb parts guys that don't know the top rack is needed in order to mount the side racks.

did they jip you on the colored inserts too? cuz none of them know that those need to be ordered separate also.

and you could fit the top rack in a back pack...kind of. it's basically the same size as the stock aluminum one just made of steel.

Thanks, saves me some gas. The luggage came in Black which is fine because I don't think they make a white insert. Well not that I can see anywhere.

I checked on the White inserts and they are not available per both the local and regional folks I spoke with...

Anyone else find the the topcase pushes the passenger forward and makes for a tight fit for two? My wife and I are not big and there is very little room between us.

I made a plate to move the mounts back a few inches that make a world of difference. I have the Suzuki bags on my 06 Vee. On the road we use a U-bag instead of the topcase, but it is sure nice to use the topcase for short trips now.

I just purchased a White Wee also and took the side case offer too. Mine did come in including the top luggage rack. You are correct, the side cases can not be installed without it. Mine worked out great, I'm sure you will enjoy them....

The deal did include the top case mount, but not the top case.

My order was a disaster. Ordered both in early August, top case and rack comes in end of month, the side cases and rack just came in this past week. When the order was placed they said 7 - 10 days and all would be keyed the same. In fact they came in 30 days later and they are not keyed the same.

To further piss me off, the side cases both had jammed locks from being banged around in shipping. Calls / emails to the dealership received no response so I ended up having to take them apart and fix them. Who knows if they will hold up.

When I get a chance I will be filing a complaint against the dealership with Suzuki; they are awful.

Must be an illusion. An inch under 6 feet. My wife has skills getting on a bike and being a passenger. The pictures and videos she gets indicates she is leaning all over but I never know because she stays so centered. Getting on she swings a leg up over the U-bag and slides in there. She never pulls on me or pulls the bike toward her getting on...

Well I called today, and ask if they talked to the regional parts manager, they tell me..oh they sent it separately, your topcase mount is in and to come pick it up. Well at least I can now mount the luggage. Wish someone knew it was coming so I wouldn't be irate incorrectly, about how a Regional Parts Manager doesn't even know his own accessory line.

I swapped out one for Givi within a year of having them.

If you like them great. I would check to make sure that lock tight was used when the put together the locks, as I had one that fell apart trapping my gear.
