I plan on installing a Sirius radio on my baby. But, I'm not quite sure what to do about the 20 feet of antenna cord that comes with all vehicle and window-sill antennas I have found in stores and online. I planned on installing the antenna on the brake reservoir. I've been told the cable is a type of coax, which would make it hard to cut and shorten; the folks in the stores recommended against trying. I _know_ I've seen _somewhere_ a Sirius vehicle antenna, I think specifically for motorcycles, with a cord of only about 1-2 feet. But I can't find in anywhere online or in stores. Anyone know where to get one of these? Or, how to deal with an extra 20 feet of cable, without just bunching it up and zip-tieing it somewhere under the fairing? Thanks in advance...

You can easily chop down the antenna to any length...once you have it figured out. I made a crappy drawing to explain how to do it. http://picasaweb.google.com/bobosmite/MotorcyclePics/photo#5001707221002747922

The trick is to give yourself enough room to solder the two wires and not melt the shrink tubing. Don't forget to slide on the shrink tubing before you start to solder. However long you need the cable, give yourself about 3" of extra play. A little bit too long is better than a little bit too short. There's no loss in signal strength.

Here's what my setup looks like. http://picasaweb.google.com/bobosmite/MotorcyclePics/photo#5000610795458723858

It's a RAM motorcycle camera mount. The base is a 4-screw mount and has a threaded post in the center for attaching a camera. I've used it a couple of times to make videos and it's rock solid. The post is removable so you can use it for other devices like a radio or GPS.

The Sirius Starmate Replay doesn't have a docking station like most radios. It has a plastic tray that you clip the radio into. It was easy to drill a big hole in the center of the tray to make room for the camera post.

I bought mine here http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?Category_ID=10&manufacturer_ID=430&product_ID=21866&model_ID=0 or you can go to www.ram-mount.com for more options.
