I want to lower my 2007 DL650A and instead of cutting my stand I would prefer to use a different stand and keep the original in case I return it to stock.
A friend offered a stock 2005 DL 1000 stand. Will they interchange? They have different oem numbers, but if they bolt on the same,I would shorten thr DL 1000 stand.
Thanks for any help.

Guess I need to go pick up the stand and try the fit before cutting anything up.
Thanks for the replies.

Finally picked up the DL 1000 stand. The footprint is smaller but the stand is one inch longer than the DL650.
Bolts up and fits like stock and the difference is just above the foot.It has enough room to remove 1 and 1/2 inches above the foot making it 1/2 inch shorter than stock.Would that be enough for 5/8 inch lower setting?
Thanks,Tom

The best way to find the right height is with blocks of wood.

Roll both wheels up onto blocks of wood (same front & rear) when you find the stand working as you would like it you measure the height of the wood and that is how much you cut off the stand.

The stock Gen 1 side stand has a tiny foot. We have a larger bolt on foot for that stand.

Anyone using an aluminum side stand would be well advised to liberally grease the top end fork. Aluminum will wear quickly when sliding against steel and in a short while you will have a very ill fitting side stand. Keeping it greased will slow the wear.

I just installed the bolt-on kickstand foot for my '07 Vee. Have not had a chance to test it on soft stuff yet, but it easily doubles the size of the original "foot." So I can't see how it wouldn't work. Plenty of clearance vs. exhaust and centerstand, too (I have the SW Motech centerstand).

Before, I used one of those orange plastic puck things that you put under the kickstand foot. Like this one:

But I got really tired of it. Thing was a hassle, for a number of reasons: positioning it when parking, retrieval and stowage when departing, dirt sticking to it getting the inside of my tank bag or top case dirty, etc.).

It's much better to just make the kickstand foot bigger.
