I was wondering if anyone (Greywolf? :mrgreen:) or someone else has done a modification to get rid of the slop in the shift linkage. I think the shift lever on the new wee is so long that shifts could be better if the slack was taken up in the cheapo ball joints and plain bearing for the shifter arm.

Anyone tried something? I gotta think how to get rid of the slop, shifting would be much better me thinks.

The Glee and Wee have the same part numbers for the linkage. Mine feels just like my old bike. Check for loose areas to pinpoint the problem.

I did punch our the bronze bearing on the rear shift section on my K6, replaced it and then sanded it until it just fitted, was better, but most of the problem is the linkage.

Bolting the shifter direct to the shaft will give you a shift that's amazingly precise and butter smooth, problem is it reverses the shift pattern.

I've noticed on my Vee ( and other bikes as well ) that the shift lever does not clamp down entirely tight on the splines. Tight enough not to rotate or strip the splines but still a touch loose.

I'm thinking of drilling out the bolt threads just enough to get a grade 5 or 8 bolt to slide through and running a nut on the end to hopefully provide more clamping force to eliminate the slight play that exist.

Might not make any difference but I'm thinking if I see see the play by just moving the lever with my hand, how much more is it moving using the leverage of my boot :confused:

Probably not. The stock Suzuki design is near identical.

Bolt a shifter directly on the shaft if you want perfection in shifting and can live with the reverse pattern.

I messed around with this quite a bit - and checked that out - but I've spent too many years and spend too much time in commuter traffic to live with "The Fix" - which does fix the problem for about $20 and a little effort with a vice and a set of Stilsons ;).
