Just came back from sherms a lil while ago.
He's a good guy, we bs'd for awhile after he spent a good bit of time explaining the stands and putting them on and off and talking about various options for them (including apparently an add on to let them be used as the boondocks stand he was selling also)
he upgraded the support on the stands from L bar to square tube as you'll see in my pics.
couldn't be happier, quite a bit less expensive than paddock stands, and require less of a footprint. i had both stands and the fasteners in one of my side bags and there was still room for groceries when i stopped on the way home.

here's some pics of the stand with the shelf bracket for use on the front forks
sherm was saying, and demonstrated, that you could get either tire off the ground with just a 2 inch thick chunk of plank, one of the open road stands, and the one bracket (to do the front wheel)
