Hey,

Has anybody had any service done at Ellicott City Motorsports? I probably need to do a TBS on my 07 wee, and I'm on the fence about doing it myself or having them do it. Any experiences good or bad? Thanks.

Did you ever have them work on your bike? i just saw this thread, been away for a while....and am curious. I bought my bike there in 07 and only have been back to get face shields. They were excellent to buy from but don't know bout their service. If you haven't had it done and want to learn how, I've got a garage and tools and live at the east end of route 100.

PM me for a phone #

Did either of you end up going there for service? I just picked up my new strom from.them on the 18th. This is my first vstrom so I have lots to learn. But I live down in the city in Baltimore, so I don't really have a garage to work in or anything. So I am trying to find a good place in the area to handle services. Please pm me if you can provide any info. Thanks!

Oh hey you forced my hand!

Yeah, I do. They had my bike for 2 days for the schedule 3 maintenance which seems reasonable since it's supposedly a 7 hr job. My service appointment was 2 weeks out from when I called them first though.

Their quoted price online is just for labor, so it ended up being another $110 for oil, parts, and shop fees ($30 ). They'd said there was going to be at least oil charges when I dropped it off though, so it wasn't a huge surprise.

They're list of service was appearantly written before fuel injection. I asked (repeatedly) if the carb check and sync meant they'd do a TBS check and sync on a FI bike, and they confirmed that. Their note says it's within spec, but I don't know if that meant they checked it and it was ok, or it was within spec after they did it. I'm leaning towards the previous though.

They did my spark plugs and returned the original iridium plugs, so I know they at least got that far into the engine.

They caught that my chain and sprockets needed to be done which I'd already known about, although they thought it was more urgent than I had previously.

My engine hasn't grenaded from a loose bolt yet, and I've had it out for a couple of rides. It does seem to run smoother, although I can't really tell from what they did what would really have caused that...

All in all, I'm not entirely happy about the price and the extra fees, but it's probably within the realm of normal. I'm reasonably confident that they did what they were supposed to do. In general, I prefer to do my own work, but I think I'll be willing to go back to them if I don't have the time or inclination to do something myself.:cheers2:
