I've got 91k miles on my 2006 DL1000...even the dealership didn't want it for a trade-in! If I was looking for a motorcycle, the mileage would turn me away too. It's well-maintained and I have all my personal records, but I'm curious if it would be worth trying to sell it or part it out.

Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.

If it is in good repair and runs well, I would think someone would pay $1-2,000 for it. That would be a good deal for a bike that does have life left. Parting it out is a lot of work, and most likely not worth your time. If I owned this bike, I would be happy to sell it for 1-2k. JMHO

It's worth so little it makes more sense to keep riding it until it develops a fatal (i.e., too expensive to fix) condition. It could also be a fun project to strip it down and see if you can make a more-or-less proper dirt bike out of it, or maybe try for a cafe racer look.

Why are you selling it? If there are engine problems you could swap that out. 1K later and you have a new bike again.

In theory you should be able to keep these bikes riding forever with enough maintenance.

Seems someone would want it. I'd suggest putting it up for sale here. Pick a price and include a few photos. I don't really need it, but at the right price, who knows...

It's almost to that point. I've been working every weekend on something that needs fixed or replaced. It needs a good break down and rebuild, but it's my only transportation. It's a little saddening because it was running so good this morning on the way to work.

There is a thread around here someplace of a guy with more than 325,000 miles on his DL1K and still riding it. Not sure you have to worry about it at your mileage. Still a ton of life left in it.

Just sold a 2007 fully farkled great condition Vee. I had listed it for $3500. Got lots of calls and three showed up to look. Last guy low balled me at $2500.

I was going to keep it, defarkle it, and make a frankenbike out of it. But, I didn't have the heart, it had been such a great bike.

A good friend was looking for a cruiser. He saw it and asked how much. I sold it for $3200 with a box of spare parts. I am doing the routine maintenace on it teaching him as we go.
