I have read many threads here about seats for the v-strom. It seems there are basicly 2 camps which are the suzuki gel seat and the sargent seat. I put 2202 miles on my bike this past week going from Pa to Indy, to Georgia then home. I have the OE seat with one of the better gel pads on top of it. On short trips this is an OK combination, but, on this trip it was not so good. It's not that it hurt my butt, but rather I just could not find a comfy position for more than a few minutes at a time. I was always moving around in the seating area to get comfortable. I am going to get a new seat, but here is my question.Which is best for a bony butt. If you own an aftermarket seat and have put on big chunks of time in the saddle, please tell me why you think your seat is the best, not just because you spent 300 bucks on it. I would like to make a decision based on good information. Thanks for your time. wilbur-j

I like the Sargent seat because it is larger and flatter in the back of the driver portion. Also the area near the tank is not as wide as the OEM seat, so it helps me to get a better ground reach.

IMHO it is much much much better than the original seat, but it's not perfect for me. My butt still hurts after a long ride, but instead of 45 min with the original seat, I now get 4-5 hours. While I can ride more, I find I have to move more around the saddle to change the point of contact. Please note that it is the beginning of the season for me, I'll bet that those numbers will increase with the mileage.

BTW, Sargent offers a 30-day money back guarantee, so you may want to test it and see for yourself.

An Added Value of Sargent's

Something to think about with a Sargent's seat.

It comes with a 30 day money back warranty.

Buy it and let your butt decide if the Sargent seat is for you. If not happy, just send it back. All you'll be out is shipping.

Any other folks have that kind of product trust in what they sell?

Hey Wilbur, Had the same experience with the stock seat. Ordered a Sargent seat. The seat arrived on a Friday. On the following Monday, I did a Iron Butt SS1000. No break-in on the seat, just 17 hrs and 10 min. of enjoyable, great seat position riding!! The Sargent is best compared to a "Tractor" shaped seat. You lose the "Ski Jump" kind of slope at the back that makes it difficult to find an good comfortable place to sit. I have found that "My" padding has gone away over the years and the "Boney Butt" seems to be my problem as well.
