You might find these interesting.....$50

Moose Racing Flex Handguards - Dirt Bike Motocross - Motorcycle Superstore

Most hand guards [for dirt bikes] won't work on the Strom because of all the controls hardware on the bar.....these guards are a bit more flexible in location, but will not protect like a true 2-point guard.

Amotostuff sells these at $99............real metal too.

Not sure what aluminum reinforced means, but these might just do the trick at your budget...

You are not going to get cheap, but I have the Acerbis Multiconcept X-Pro Handguard Kit and it was pretty put it on loosely on the bike, adjust and then tighten down. Surprisingly they come with 2 sets of wind deflectors, one big and one small. The bike in the picture above has the big ones.

I got tired off looking for a cheap set and picked up these guys one day while at Cycle Gear.

Posts like this really crack me up. You are taking quite the epic journey on two wheels and you want to go cheap on one item that can save your hands and levers from a fall that could end your trip. I don't understand the reasoning or (lack of)logic on this one. Maybe it's just Darwinism at its best.

Cycra Pro-Bends with a U-Clamp can be had for $90, and they're tough as hell.

Acerbis & Moose make a cheaper option, good product but will require some time in a vice and a little tweaking to get to fit.

Or, you could buy some ASV-knockoff levers that won't break on a fall from Flea-Bay for $30.
