Why don’t I see anyone using clip master links on there V-Strom chains?

Probably because it's an inferior way to keep a chain on a streetbike. I've run it in a pinch but after seeing several retaining clips fall off (including one of mine) it wouldn't be my pick.

Get a clip style masterlink. They are not evil.

Get GOOD clip master.ink. Put one on my SV, no problem.

Perhaps because most buy the correct length chain? I went to a 13 counter shaft sprocket and did not have to shorten the chain. DIrt trackers change gears all the time due to track conditions which require additions or subtractions to chain lengths. Few of us could afford to have different length endless chains or the time to make the changes using them.

I carry one on my bike for a chain emergency. In 51,000 miles and a new chainb and sprockets at 28,000 miles, I have not needed to try it, but it makes me feel better knowing I have one.

Master replacement EK525MVXZ Screw Link, if you want to use a 525 EK chain. I carry a spare with the correct tools for install. Working in 15K miles on this set and it looks great.

Because after the first time , the peened links are easy to use and very reassuring. It is painful doing the first one.
