what's that? 60 something mph? I 'm unable to use my 6th at any speed below about 70mph indicated by gps. And then I'm turning about 3000rpm.
'07 w/PCIII and K&N. FWIW, I couldn't even do 70 in O/D until the K&N and PCIII went in.

 

Why can't you run 6th gear under 70? My Vee will pull away cleanly and with good acceleration from 2500 in 6th.

For a speed reference at 70 mph I turn 4150 rpm with 17/43 sprockets.

Don't be sorry. Almost all the world today use the metric sistem. Its wiser, easier and understood all over the world.
Answering: 100 km/h= 3750 RPM. 120 KM/h= 4000 RPM with 17/41 sprockets (original)

Be sure to see Gearing Commander for all of your gearing needs. The V-Strom is in the database.

 

Gearing commander is neat..I assume the 2004 data is the same as my 2009..and since I had my computer tweaked it pulls from 3000 in 6th to 190km/h like a train...

 

Frosty Puck, for what it is worth, my Vee was not happy at all below 4K when I first bought it. I just rode it that way, trying to keep revs up more than I might have on other bikes. Once I cured the clutch chudder the problem went away.
