Rear Rotor has a groove in the center, no grinding or issues to speak of, maybe a stone got stuck? should these be replaced?

Just saw a price for this, so how do I fix this?

Also the rear dampers broke off at the locking stubbie while trying to take them out to check them. 34,000 miles, time to change anyway?

I wouldn't worry about it unless the disc is down to minimum thickness.

Re the rear dampers, what is a locking stubbie?

I was referring to the rubber"nub" that fits into the hole at the bottom. That's what broke off trying to lift them out.

What is the recommended replacement time for those anyway? Bike now stranded on the center stand until the part comes in.

With regard to the groove in the disc - All of mine on other bikes have grooves of various sizes. Once a new brake pad mates with those grooves, you'll have more surface area to provide stopping power. Your groove doesn't look bad at all.

What Spike said! I had over 200K miles on some severely grooved disks and the new pads always bedded in fro good braking after a bit.
That little bit of wear you have there is called patina.
