First to clarify, Rojo makes this product the same way they make top-of-the-line air cushions for wheelchair applications for people that sit all day, everyday and need to avoid pressure sores. The technology is the same heavy duty rubber and the wheel chair pads cost hundreds of dollars and last a lifetime. BTW, the zippered cover has stretchy cycling short material with neoprene in spots and non-slip rubber base.
I've used my Airhawk on many bikes including my Wee and it has value for pure street riding. For any dirt riding I do NOT recommend it as a big bike like a V-strom handles better off road when standing and therein lies a problem with the Airhawk. Do not worry if Airhawk is a little bigger than seat because it is forgiving. SIZE: Cruiser small size (12"wx18"L) and fit is great on V-Strom and VFR. I would not go smaller (i.e. they make pillion pads too).
I use a gel seat plus Alaska leather for daily use and that is easily good enough for 250-400 mile days and this combo I like best for dual sport rides. I usually pack the Airhawk in my small Wolfman Peak tailbag sort of like Tylenol for my ass. Arguably the $15 Walmart ATV pad is probably 80% as good.
I rented a Wee once for 3 days (Carolina Cycles, Henderson, NC) and used the Airhawk on the (worse than gel) stock seat.
On 400+ mile days: The Airhawk requires some adjustment of position (i.e. slide it forward) every 100 miles to change pressure points. Also a minor changein air pressure once in a while can help. On such rides this thing rocks.
For multiple bikes: I used it on street rides on my XR650L which worked better over the stock seat than the Corbin (which I sold). But on a narrow seat bike like the XR more than 100 miles at a time was still a bit sore. Whereas the wider V-Strom seat is a better platform. My Dad loves his on his VFR. When you sell bikes, you keep the Airhawk.
