OK Western Carolinas, Anyone interested in a weekend campout and ride?
I am looking foward to a long ride in the mountains and hearing some stories around a campfire.
I found a campground that welcomes motorcycles and drink. Not that drink is a necessary but it makes stories taller if your telling
and more believable if you are listening. It is called the Lazy J Campground at hwy 215 in Rosman.
I could be talked into making chili for the evening meal prior to the drink and story telling.
So howboutcha any interest? I would hope Quip Artist Norm, and Master story weaver Brown would attend. Such talent should not be wasted on the net. What say you.

18th?

As fate would have it, that weekend is the only one in October not already booked with some sort of MC event. Further, I believe that my lovely bride has some sort of girls event planned for that week end so, if that's the time, I'll book a night in jail for Jake the Mutant Dog and go.

MikeD,

I will be passing through the west end of NC on Thurs the 16th or Fri the 17th on my way to Barber. If you guys get some place positive set up I'll try and fit it into my schedule and at least stop by for coffee.

Pleased to see you can make it, Larry. Hope to see you as well Doug.
I want to let everyone know this is not just a Strommer convention. All folks are welcome if you have friends bring them along. If you are from out of the Carolinas and like to ride the parkway and mountains please join us. I will try to set up several different types of rides. ( Paved ,Gravel),(Paved Twisties),or(Meandering Mountain rds.)Just depends on the turnout. I may need born leaders to help escort the troops.
Come on lets do this thing!

There's a chance I might need to be away.

If I'm around, count me in.

If I can buy enough gasoline to get there.

Any preferred destinations?

boring leaders

I'm all over it. Where exactly do you wish to be lost? How many wrong turns are you up to? I am the man that led my friends (well, he was my friend) up "Mule Hell Rd" (for real that was it's name) (somewhere in Virginia as I recall) and while we stayed upright, we really had no business doing so. He still speaks to me so I guess it was alright.

Suggestions are most welcome, Norm. I know this is your back yard, you know the routes as well as anyone.

I live in East TN...

Are you looking to ride on or off road?

This time of year is great for riding. That is a problem however as the area can be filled with the tourons looking at the leaves. Great care must be taken to remain safe. For the most part the weather should be good however and I actually prefer it a little on the cool side as it makes wearing all the gear a little more comfortable.

If i can help with ride or camping selection let me know.

Thanks Coop

Hey Coop, Base camp will be in Rosman NC on Hwy 215 ,it is also known as Parkway rd. It's a twisty road to the BRP. If the response stays small we can make ride plans last minute. Suggestions are always welcome. Next year I'll have more vacation time and can plan something bigger. FYI Rosman is only 10 miles from Brevard if you want to calculate mile from your location.

Hey Larry, my natural gps has let me down on occasion. I'll ride until the road stops or runs into a hwy.;)

I missed this thread.

Based on the title i thought it was just another polital discussion.

Anyways, there's the Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground in Cruso on 276 just below the BRP.

There's also camping in Pisgah Forest along some of the fire roads. Davidson River Campground could be a possiblity. Cascade lake campground just outside of Brevard might also work.

Of course, Iron Horse might work, too, near Bryson City. I can't say enough nice things about that place. that's where the Eastern Gathering was. There's a variety of accomodations available, plus meals.

Hell, I thought it was a literary discussion on Dante's Enferno! I don't care. I'll slap on the tent, bag and Canadian. Any of those spots are good.
