I'm probably one,of the luckiest people , one of my good friends sells Suzuki and Yamaha..

While on Yamaha .. There's a demo day tomorrow, starts at nine...I'm the ride captain.

Motorsports World in Ottawa

Away back to,ride.. Needed to pre ride the route just to make sure there were no surprises .. So they let me use the new 1000..

In a word it seems unfinished compared to the Wee I ride, doesn't take the bumps like the 650.. In all fairness I didn't play too much with the settings.

Stock shield is too small, nice touch be able to adjust while riding, but both positions caused helmet buffeting.

I like the firmness of the seat, and the riding position is spot on for my 6"2 frame.

Lots of power.. But I never felt when riding solo that the 650 was lacking. Really good feel from the front brakes, wish mine felt like this.. Maybe time from branded lines.

Very smooth at highway speeds..unlike the 650 when you pass 120km.. Things get a little busy through the seat.

Much lighter than expected.. Even with a full tank of fuel..

.. But you know what I wouldn't trade my 650 for it...

Cheers,

Gary

I only sat on one but I didn't really care for the feel of it.

Interesting, especially since it feels like the 650.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! After riding my brothers new to him Katana 750 I was wishing for more power... I was even considering going to look at a 1000.

Then I went away for a weekend ride with some buddies and not once did I need more power, heck i'm a slow ass rider for the most part. It was just that acceleration that was addicting.. but really it just gets me in trouble :) I'm going to stick with my 650 for a while yet :) she's almost got 50k km on her now.

Brake feel...steel braided hoses help if your present hoses are deteriorated and expanding when you squeeze the lever. Otherwise bleed the system completely. Try different pads...Galfer and EBC are both favorites. The 4-piston upgrade works well.

Maybe yours, not mine.
I own and ride the old outdated 1000, but I am no stranger to the 650's. Most report who ride the Vee2, that is feels lighter and smaller than the 650, and I would imagine comfort would be on par or better than the current 650. It felt pretty familiar to me, very much like the 650......but hey that is just my opinion.
