Most of Nowra to Braidwood is surfaced now. The dirt part from the Neriga pub to Braidwood is corrugated in parts with pebbly gravel, and trucks pelt along it with little regard for motorcyclists. Not wishing to or being able to match their speeds, I took to the bush on more than one occasion on my last trip through there. A bit like the logging trucks up at Clouds Creek near Grafton!
There are some interesting signs out the back of the air force base at Nowra, along the lines of "Cars must give way to marching troops" or something similar. The road out to Braidwood seems to go right through the base.
Stop at the big pie shop/bakery on the left as you come down into Braidwood. Terrific coffee and apple slices with cinnamon. Yum!
Don't forget, if you're overnighting in Moruya, stay at the Monarch Hotel right in town. Fabulous old pub, great rooms, good food, lock-up garage out the back for your bike, and Michel the owner is nearly ninety but as spritely as they come. Special deals for bike riders too. Worth the extra 40 kays or so past Batemans, but get there before the skippys come out to play.
