I'm being slightly vague since I don't recall the route numbers off the top of my head, but the trip went something like this:
My buddy Chris and I rode I90 to Ellensburg, then rode the canyon road to Yakima. After double Miner burgers at Miner's, we headed down 97 to Biggs. Headed to Condon via Wasco and hwy 206. Met up with our friend Marc, riding an F800GS in Condon and stayed the night at the Condon Motel. Recommended for Biker Scum.
The next morning, we did a bit of pavement to Mitchell, OR., gassed up, and hit the dirt. We rode Forest Service roads to Christmas Valley, and gassed up there. Also re-stocked our liquor supply. We caught a strip of asphalt (hwy 31) to Summer Lake, and stayed at the Summer Lake Lodge for the night.
Since we got a late start out of Summer Lake, we opted out of our long dirt ride, and settled for a shorter one, around the west side of Goose Lake via 31/396/Lakeview. We ran into a bit of road construction on the dirt road, that was pretty sketchy to traverse, then after we rode over the lake (yes, the road is elevated over the lake), we hit a length of beautiful new pavement, about 1.5 lanes wide, with grasses growing up each side of the road to about 8ft high. We hooked back up with 395 to 299 to Canby to Aiden. I can't remember if we had lunch in Canby or Aiden, but I'm pretty sure it was Aiden. Then south on 139 to A1, aka, Eagle Lake Rd.
We camped for 4 nights at the Eagle Lake group campsite, doing side rides or shooting guns each day. Sunday morning, I was up and off fairly early, trying to make some time. A1-139-299-Klamath Falls. Breakfast in K-Falls, then north on 97 to 58. Crossed the mountains on 58, and blazed up I5 to Lake Oswego. Traffic was backed up for at least 20 miles on I5, south of LO, and the temp was miserable. I decided to get out of my hot gear and ride in jeans and a tshirt since it was so hot. I opted to stay in LO for the night rather than get stuff in some hot highway stuff. I left early in the am, and arrived back in Burlington about an hour before the rain started...
