This morning I put on the OEM handguards on my 650. I did not start it before I began. It has been a bit nippy lately and I have not driven in a week or so. When I turned the key all the starting sequence fired off except the fuel pump and trying to start it results in dead silence. I disconnected and reconnected the clutch switch and nothing changed. Is it my battery or something else. The bike is an early 09 with the original battery. Thanks for any help or advice.

PS - the instructions that came with the handguards are the worst that I have ever seen for any piece of equipment.

Does the instrument panel show a clock or a CHEC with the ignition on? If a CHEC, see if you turned the kill switch on the right handlebar.

No, even dumber than that...

I had put the bike on the center stand to work on it and left the kick stand down. As soon as I put the kick stand up everything was OK. Who said you get wiser as you get older?
