First of all I have looked all through the postings for the answer, so apologies if it's there and I've missed it. How do you get the small light bulb out at the front of the bike. It doesn't say in the handbook. It should be straight forward but up to now I can't get it out by pulling at the bulb from the back. I don't want to pull too hard in case the wires come out in my hand and leave the bulb in place. Do you need extremely long and agile fingers to get it out or do you have to strip all the fairing off. The headlamp bulbs by comparison seem very accessible and no problem to change. I hardly ever use the lights but it would be good for them both to function. Any advice welcome

As u have noticed when u touch them, the bulbs (at least on K4 model EUROPE) are attached to a rubber composite material, is quite flexible, and here it's the problem, at least for me, when trying to place them again...
The only thing i have done is turn to the left (a quarter or a half i think...or perhaps to the right  ) all this structure, then u will notice that is all free, and u have just to pull it out, now very easily  .
PD: i'm sorry for my english, and if u can't understand all of that, feel free to ask again, i will try to explain myself quite better.

Thanks for your information V-Jordi, I'm going to try again tomorrow morning. I'm spending some time in the South of France this summer and taking the V-Strom with me. If I come into Northern Spain I'll look out for your V-Strom :)

What are the position lights used for? We don't have them in Canada.

Ok, Chris Graves, perhaps we will meet on road, because i'm planning to go to the IV International Meeting in June, and i have to cross all France to arrive to Allrode. But if u plan to come here this summer and it's not on June, post a message here and perhaps i can show u some good travels to do here.
See u soon !

Thanks for all the help everyone, my bike has two functioning sidelight/position light bulbs again. I had to take the black dash off, just couldn't get my fingers in the available space. It didn't help that I am left handed either. It may be easier for me to replace the right hand one when it blows.

Mark, for your info. the position lights are two small 5w bulbs inside the headlamps. In the UK they come on at the first position of the light switch, like a car's sidelights. I never drive on them, always use headlamps so at least there's a chance that car drivers see me. You can also use them as parking lights, the key turns one more position past the normal locking position and you can remove the key. I don't recommend this, did it by mistake the first week I had my V-strom. Came to the bike at the end of the day and the battery was flat.!!

V- Jordi thanks for the offer, I'll be staying near Beziers in Languedoc for 5 weeks from the end of July. So I may be in contact with you.
