I purchased a dual usb socket off amazon to replace stock dash socket.

Has anyone done this yet on the forum? Am I going to need to cut and splice ends on wires to power socket? I think I saw on the web that there is a special connector that goes to the back of the stock 12v dash socket.

Just checking before I start the process and see if I need anything special for connectors for wires.

thanks

Yes. I just snipped the ends and used crimp on spade lugs.

Malso, I had to take a round file to enlarge the hole in the dash a bit. Didn't take much.

Very easy mod.

Install went as planned and works great.
Tried the dual usb outlet plug in but as most know if you do any rough roads, in time it will pop out.
Well worth the 30 min start to finish.

In a pinch, you may find on Amazon, and eBay various plugs. This one is for that extra-long trip. The wife on the back. Plug this into your

I got a 12V outlet adapter at the 99 cents only store. Cost me a couple bucks. Just checked, it seems to work,
Has a 1A and 2.1A outlet. I've got a two headed cord adapter too. So I can run my GPS and charge a little camera or phone at the same time.
I keep the 12V outlet to run a tire pump when needed.
