Hey everyone, new here. I poked around in the search and couldn't really find an answer but I am looking for a rear tire hugger for the 2024 800 I picked up this year. Any suggestions that don't lead to 140 dollars worth of shipping charges to Canada?

yeah and those ones ship from the UK? Or is there a Canadian supplier you have used? I would think you'd have to add rubber washers to either side of the attachment to keep it from pinching too hard but yeah the matte one is what I want. I do see that they have mixed reviews. Also @kebab776 that's a nice rig. The all black ones look so slick.

Thanks, some days I think of adding another colour (like a gold chain) but other days I really like the all-black setup.

Re hugger: sounds like a possible stress point weakness via the design, not sure now whether to over-torque or under-torque the bolts to give it slight freeplay? Suppose it may well just fail regardless

That was my thoughts, it was a poor design. TBH I was not entirely sold on the look of it when fitted, it seemed out of place on an enduro type bike, just too big overal. Now it’s in the bin, I prefer the cleaner look of the back end….and….i had to put a new rear tyre on recently, it was a dick dance with the hugger, very straightforward without.

My experience with huggers is that they are simply useless. I always found that on wet days the spray billowed over the top of them without exception so I stopped wasting money on them years ago. My alternative, and this comes as oem on some bikes, is to hang a flap from the bodywork just aft of the shock and it keeps road crud off the shock.

My '16 Strom 1000 has such a device albeit a little more elaborate. A lot of dirt bikes also have them as stock. On one or two of my bikes I just made one out of a mudflap.

This link will give You an idea of what I am trying to convey

I like the look of the pyramid hugger. The powerbronze hugger looks just a bit "odd" to my eyes. Probably not a good idea on the DE if you are riding dirt and have off-road tires. Not enough clearance for any mud or rocks that get caught in the tire tread, could get destroyed very easily.
