So I downloaded the service manual for my new to me 07 dl650 and see lots of service opportunities but not sure about the real world need vs suzuki covering themselves. Radiator hoses and fuel lines and other stuff like that really necessary? I get the oil change, brake fluid, radiator fluid, valve job, brakes and tires. Any other items the "should" be done?

change the fluids as needed, oil and filter first, i change the brake fluid when i change pads, change radiator fluid if you think it needs it, inspect hoses, better to change a radiator hose at your house than on the side of the road or in the middle of now where, if it looks like it has cracks around the hose clamp, i'd change it, if it has any bulges in it, i'd change it, if it looks good, it's probably fine same with fuel lines, if they look old and stiff, i'd change them, but leave them alone if it's not a problem. if you live where it's really cold, i'd make sure the radiator fluid is good, don't want a cracked motor because of a hard freeze, not that I've ever heard of that, but i don't live where it get's below 60, :wink2:

@Hatchi's list is pretty good. If you do a lot of river crossings or ride in snow country where they salt the roads then wheel bearings and lower swingarm, cushion lever and sprocket carrier bearings might not last to 80K. Also, fuel injectors can be professionally cleaned rather than replaced.

Wow, I'm impressed and amazed that the preemptive service done by Hatchi.
Changed brake pads every 50K or so and oil at the 6K and filters at the 12K.
The rest is leaving well enough alone until it needs a fix. i got the steering head bearings in hand but I'm gonna ride the bastid 900 more miles to get 100K out of it, dab nagit!
Oh, I did have the valves checked at 80K an 1 got adjusted. I was told to come back in 30K miles.
The spark plugs got changed at 80K too just because I had a pair. The original still looked good.
