I upgraded the jamming unit on my car from the Escort SRX to the 9500ci with GPS.

This effects the radar, but its the same jamming unit (actually, the SRX supposedly jams better than the 9500ci...)

Now I have the old SRX sitting in my garage.

has anyone installed jammers on their bike? IS there any reason why it wouldnt work? Some of my friends think I'm odd for doing it, and they say its a dumb idea, but they are also all licenseless or on the edge of losing their license for getting a bunch of big tickets, like 120s in 65s...

I've never gotten a ticket on my bike (knock on wood) but I also don't drive it all that much. I thought since I had the jammers though I might just go ahead and install them on the Vee. Any reason why that wouldnt work?

Just don't cross the border with either on your car or bike. They're verboten in Hockeyland.

I clearly remember removing my V1 every time I crossed the border into BC.

But then I saw pictures from a guy's moto trip to Alaska, where at the BC - Yukon border, the sign said "radar detectors illegal in Yukon Territories" so he stopped to remove his detector.. I was so confused, because I had thought they were illegal in BC too!

Radar Detectors are illegal in a few states.

Radar Jammers are illegal in every state since the FCC regulates those frequencies.

Laser jammers are illegal in a few specific states where that state has made them illegal (Oklahoma) But Laser jammers are not regulated by the federal government so are legal in most states.

I always wondered about that... I have had them on my cars for years. You can't take off your radar detector/laser jammers (took 10-12 hours to install 'em). I presume I can just shut them off and it should be OK (doesnt that fall into reciprocal equipment treaty? to have the equipment as long as you don't use it??) Anyway, Any Canucks know by chance?

Make that "one state": Virginia. And Washington DC, as I recall, but that isn't a state.

I love how any post about radar detectors/laser jammers... even when the questions have nothing to do with them, involves one or two people piping up how they are illegal in 49 states or something... lol....

Illegal in 1, as stated above! and even in that state its not a points-on-the-license moving violation or something!
