I've been curious about this. I have about 8000 miles on my V2 and it is definitely gotten louder(ish). It is not loud by any means but I have to wonder if there isn't (wasn't) some packing in there to meet "Standards". I've looked for a cross-cut drawing but haven't found one. Anybody got one that shows what's inside?i don't think the Stock Vee2 exhaust has absorbent material to wear out. I'm pretty sure it is a mechanical baffle type and it is way too new to have rusted out.
That was not cacophony, that was the music of Detroit iron. Sounds wonderful at the side of the track as they go by, not so wonderful through your neighborhood late at night.Reminds me of the cut outs guys had on hot rods in the 50's-60's. Pull a lever and cacophony reigned supreme!
Oh My Gosh I remember those. It was the HOT setup for all those trying to keep MR. Law off their tails. That back when loud pipes were a punishable offense! Ha!i don't think the Stock Vee2 exhaust has absorbent material to wear out. I'm pretty sure it is a mechanical baffle type and it is way too new to have rusted out. Also may be stainless.
If you want to make it quieter try reducing the OD of the outlet by installing a washer or other restricter. Check out the snuff-or-nots from the 1960s. I'm sure it can be done.
Here is a video of a DIY version.
