Quick Review of G2 Throttle Tamer

I just installed a G2 Throttle Tamer tube on my dl1k7. My bike has the typical jerky on/off throttle that plagues these bikes.

Installs same as factory tube, so very easy. I do wish the g2 throttle tube had the collar on the inner side like the factory tube does, but not a big deal. I will say the outer delrin bushing was a slightly loose fit on my protaper bars, but after a test ride it didnt bother me.

Now, I am very aware of the apparent controversy of throttle tamers. I read almost entirely great reviews from those that actually tried them, so I went for it. I am not interested in hearing people make claims that it's a rider technique problem etc etc.

Yes in fact it did work just like its supposed to! Small throttle opening control is much much better and the jerky condition is 80% better. Before this, all necessary adjustments were made to see if this purchase could be avoided. Cables, TPS, TBS, chain, and extra fuel via PC5.

While I do believe there could be improvement hiding with further PC5 tuning, its improved enough where I would no longer call it a problem with the bike, but instead a characteristic if that makes sense.

Yes the throttle must turn a bit more for WOT, but it doesn't bother me. So if other gen 1 owners are looking for improvement, yes this helps.

Guesing it's not compatible with OEM heated grips? The heated grip kit replaces the whole throttle tube ...

It wouldnt work in that case. I use oxford heated grips.
Interesting. I wonder if anyone here has used one on a Gen 2 650.

If by Gen 2 you mean a glee, yes I fitted one.

A few years back work mate moved up from a 400 Honda to a Glee, he was not very experienced on motorcycles and did not like the throttle action, I suggested and fitted a tamer for him, at the time I could not get a Suzuki one so I fitted a Honda one, they looked the same to me and fitted fine.

I fitted oxford grips at the same time along with a airflow screen, every time I see him he mentions how great things work now and how much he loves the strom.
