can you access a DL1000 computer system using a laptop ??? I know some fuel injection systems can be "tuned" or troubleshooted by interface with a laptop. I have done this on Harleys with a tuner before is my reason for asking.....If so what is required ?

You can add a power commander and tune the fuel maps.

Duh I should of thought of that LOL
there is an australian firm woolich that makes ECUflashing software, but it is expensive and I think they make it just for Gen 2s. Contact themis your best bet. You can't just plug your computer into a port. You need ak, an adaptor, a key code and adjustment software specific to that ECU. Hence the expense.
Find somebody with a Yosh box tuner. There is a dealer in Louisville with one. With it, you can tune the ECU like Harleys can.

Or cheat, and get a piggyback fuel controller.
