Question about Centerstands

2344 Views 5 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  StretchNM
I recently ordered a Happy Trails centerstand based on searching posts here. It’s shipping mid-October, which seems reasonable based on supply issues we’ve all been dealing with.
While cross shopping other brands, I’ve noticed that the HT stand is on par, price wise, with the Chinese brands on Amazon and almost $100 cheaper than the SW Motec stand…from what I’ve found.
Is it simply good value for money or is it a case of “you get what you pay for”?

Everything I've seen from HT is built like a brick sh*thouse. In a good way.

When I bought my bike, it had a full HT exoskeleton and engine skid. Nice design, welds, fit and finish.

No skid, with c-stand. Great place to add aux lighting, too.

You will not be disappointed with their center stand. Happy Trails makes top of the line products. I have used their stuff on every bike I've owned. Not one failure.

Not speaking from experience here, rather from reading forum threads on the centerstand issue:

There has been some issue with these centerstands lowering ground clearance too far and causing contact while cornering at a heavier lean angle. Reports have varied from scraping up the centerstand to causing the bike to highside and lay down. I can;t remember the threads, but a search on center stands would bring them up. Most posts concerned the SW Motech stand and I remember the Happy Trails getting good reviews.

The exception is the OEM Suzuki stand, which I read robs LESS clearance than the others. Of course, you pay the price ($325 +-). But even then, we're lowering our ground clearance.

Again, no personal experience, just reading the experiences of other. Good luck!

I need a center stand on my bike (didn;t they always come with them before?), and I think I'm going to pay for the OEM. Maybe not.
