Put a Cork in It

After 75 miles of screaming over the Cheraholla, my oil filler cap vibrated out and spewed oil all over my leg and bike. Couple Canadians suggested this and it worked just fine for about 800 miles.

On another topic, how do you rotate the tires on these things?

Fire the person who serviced your oil.
That would be kinda harsh, but I did give myself a stern talking to.

What ever gets you home!!
Since I tend to overtighten things, I'd opt for the rubber version of the stopper though.
No cross pattern. Just front to rear and rear to front.
How did you stop the bottle of rum from leaking?

Typically after starting the engine, I put it in gear then slowly let out the clutch. After that rotation
kicks in pretty soon! (y)

Let us know if it doesn't.

Cheers

We couldn't find a rubber stopper at the time.

A handy tip shared for the new filler cap: A Tether For My Oil Cap
Did that guy really drill that hole with the cap installed on the bike?

What would be the issue with that? Its not like any filings would end up in the oil plus it would prevent damaging the cap in a vise. However I think the retaining wire is a bit of overkill, just install and tighten the cap correctly and it isn't going anywhere.

The drill bit gets close to the engine cover. Better to take the part to the workbench.
Many moons ago while out trail riding my Brotherinlaw dropped his KLE. Even before we picked it up, oil was appearing underneath. He had had the bad luck to drop it on a stone which broke the plastic oil level window. Trip over or so we thought. My very resourceful mechanic friend was with us. He looked for a minute and then pulled some coins out of his pocket. One was the right size. He pulled out the broken plastic and then press fitted the coin. Leak completely stopped and not too much oil lost. A small (guessed) oil top up at the next petrol station and we continued on our way.

I don't normally support drinking and driving, but what ever gets you home 'eh?! 🍻
