I've noticed some odd occurrences lately on the site and wondered if there were any fixes for them.

I've been getting unresponsive script errors every time I try and make a post. My main browser is Firefox, on a computer running Windows 10. I did manage to fix that with YesScript. However, when the response window for a post opens up, some of the tools are missing, like the italicize button. The emoticons, although I can see them, aren't active. The window for uploading photos has also disappeared. Also, it appears that every photo that is in my photo albums are showing up listed on the response screen for responding to a post.

If I use Microsoft Edge I experience the same problems, with the exception that I do have the photo uploading window.

I've included some screen caps to illustrate what I'm experiencing. The first photo shows the beginning of the list of all the photos from my photo albums, the second shows more of the listed photos, and the third shows the response window where there is a blank area where all the standard word processing tools used to be. I don't have Chrome installed, so I don't know if the same issues exist there. I haven't experienced this problem with any other forums I belong to.

Oh, and I just noticed that the photographs I have attached to the posts I made tonight have disappeared, including the thumbnails.

OK...maybe I got it fixed. I uninstalled Firefox, reinstalled it, then refreshed it. I still get the script errors every few posts, but the other issues seem to be cleared up.

Aaaand, I was wrong. After a couple tries at replying to a post, the same issues began again. This time, I uninstalled adblock, and the website began functioning normally. As soon as I reinstalled adblock, the same problems began to crop up again. Merely turning off adblock for this particular site wasn't enough; I has to totally uninstall it for the site to function the way it used to.

Has anyone else encountered problems with adblock on here?

Can anyone else recommend a reliable ad blocking software that I can try?

RC, Obviously I can not be sure _ but often enough in FireFox, script errors are related to the "Automatic Cashe Management" being set too low. There is a Advanced Preference to override the amount.
Also that is where you can Clear Cashe in case there is a big data request residing in the background from a previous web activity (which may be from some other website).
Last, there is a Crash Reporter that you can turn on to see if it is a particular script that is the culprit (unlikely).

Both FireFox and this forum engine are very good - but - they are both very hungry.

Thanks for responding, NVDucati. I was just researching the script issue again when I saw your post, and I'm going to try your solution. However, the more I play with this, the more I believe it has something to do with the adblock software. I just tried adblock ultimate instead of adblock plus, and I get the same issue; the word processing controls are gone in the response window, the emoticons are disabled, and there is a huge list under the "attach files" heading that basically lists every single photo that's in my photo albums as if there are going to be attached to this message. Disabling the adblock on this site does no good; the only way the site seems to function normally is if I uninstall the adblock software totally. Once I do that, everything functions as it should (though I still get the script errors), and that huge "attach files" list disappears. That may really curtail my activities on this site, since I don't want to deal with ads on every other site I visit just so I can post in here.

I just uninstalled adblock ultimate, and now I have all the word processing tools in the response window, and the emoticons are working normally:smile2:. The long list of attached files that was comprised of all my photo albums is gone. I didn't even get a script error this time when I responded to this thread.

I'm also on the Super Tenere forum, and have none of these issues when making posts with adblock software installed.

Any of the admins (or anyone else) have any ideas about this? Is anyone out there?

Have you cleared your cookies? I've been waiting for admins to respond too. I haven't seen any other reports so I'm guessing it's on your end.

Affirmative on the cookies, Greywolf. I agree that is must be something on my computer, or else it would be site-wide. Just can't figure out what it is, or why uninstalling adblock seems to clear it up. Very weird, especially since nothing has changed on my computer (that I'm aware of) that would have precipitated this problem.

Okay, for the admins, here's what I know so far:

I'm using Mozilla Firefox, the most recent edition. I uninstalled, reinstalled, and refreshed the newest Firefox browser today.

I didn't install any ad blocking software on Firefox.

I cleared the cached web content from Firefox.

I overrided the automatic cache management and reset it from 350 MB down to 50 MB.

I then went to the Stromtroopers site and opened the reply window on three different threads in three different sub forums. In each case, the reply window loaded correctly, with all the word processing tools intact, no script errors, functioning emoticons, and no attachment list of all the photos from my photo album.

I then loaded Adblock Plus, and returned to the Stromtroopers site.

I opened three reply windows on three different threads in three different subforums. In each case the window did not load correctly; I received a script error each time; if I continued the unresponsive script window, I would just get the unresponsive script window again. If I stopped the script then the reply window did become active to the point I could enter text, but the word processing tools in the window were missing, the emoticons were inactive, and the long list of attached photos from my photo albums appeared on the attachment list.

I then disabled Adblock Plus (but didn't uninstall it), and tried to open a reply to a thread. I encountered the same issues described in the previous paragraph.

I then uninstalled Adblock Plus and began the thread reply that I am posting right now. The reply window loaded normally, with none of the errors previously described.

That's as much info as I have. I hope this helps someone guide me to a solution to the problem.

Well, just one more update...

I'm not so certain that the issue is with my computer. I used a second computer, a Nextbook Flexx9 running Windows 10, and accessed the Stromtroopers site. I don't have Firefox on this computer, only Chrome. I've tried using the site with Chrome, both with and without Adblock installed, and the issues are even worse. When I try to reply to a post I can see that the reply window is not loading with the word processing tools, and the list of all my photos still appears under the list of attachments. In this case however, I can't make a reply even under limited function; when I try to reply the site hangs up in a script error. If I try to kill the script error the site crashes.

At present, the only way the site works as it should is on my Dell computer running Windows 10 with Firefox installed and no AdBlock Plus.

I don't know if anyone has been following this thread, but if you are and you find yourself having the problems I've been having, I did find a solution: uBlock Origin. I installed it today, and I no longer have the functionality problems with replying to posts, nor am I getting the script errors.
