Just curious if Troopers ever make the trek to Port Dover on any given Friday the 13th? The one coming up 1 week from today is the ONLY one for 2014, so the expectation is that it will be larger than ever... 150,000+ bikes.

For those that do/have gone, what is the adventure segment of the bike that are there? It's obviously Harley/cruiser based, but I've seen lots of super sports in the mix, but never any adventures in all the pictures I could find from past events.

I've a few friends that are asking if I'm going with my new ride, but I'm not sure yet (They're all Harley riders). First, because I think I might be like a "fish out of water" with the Stroms' high position and my high-vis gear... No need to "find Waldo" on me, I'll be clearly visible in the sea of black leather. And second, because I'm not sure it would be "fun". I bought the bike to "see the world" not try to be seen in a crowd.

I live a 90 minute (2-hour scenic) ride away, and when it's the morning of the 13th in the past, I pass several hundred bikes on my 30 minute commute to work. It kind of boggles the mind what it's like with 100k+ bikes in the small town. I rode through Port Dover last weekend, and there were hundreds of bikes around and the 13th was still 2 weeks away. Waiting in line at the Tim-Hortons downtown I heard a local say to another: "..get what you need, for the next few weeks we won't be able to get down here..."

I'm heading up there, You won't feel out of place. I'm just there for a couple hours, walk on the pier, something to eat, walk down main street to look at the bikes, etc..

That's about it. Walk around and marvel at the number of bikes that squeeze themselves into the normally sleepy little town. You won't feel out of place unless you are a victim of fashion with your Harley buddies. Cruisers dominate, but there are lots of everything including adventures, sport bikes and even scooters that make the trip. Wear something comfortable for walking around and hopefully you can leave your jacket on the bike.

Unless you don't mind waiting in huge line-ups for food or drink, pack a lunch and drinks to enjoy on the beach or the pier and just soak up the people-watching.
Everyone should do it once.

I went once , and found it a very non-adv crowd . Thousands of rotund , tatooed men , their rotund , tatooed ladies . Extremely obnoxiously loud bikes that insist on threading through the jammed streets , blipping obnoxiously . No vendors of interest , unless you're shopping for chrome or leather , or a way to make your bike louder.
I'd say skip it , and go for a blast on the backroads into the countryside , have a pleasant lunch in a quiet pub in a small town , then meander home . Time well spent .

I''ll be there ! I'ts true that the majority of bikes/riders are of the cruiser type but there are more and more 'other' bikes too. Never felt out of place, when you're walking about no one knows what you're riding anyway ! Everyone should do it once or twice !...H.

I've been many times - but only in the winter when the 13th was between November and March. I like it because there are less than a few thousand bikes there and some very interesting characters show up when it's below 0 out.

There's nothing quite like riding into Dover when it's -8 out and I'm freezing and then that guy shows up riding in wearing the devils horns on his beanie helmet and only a thong and riding boots...

My advice...go thursday night...pitch a tent in the school yard they provide for this purpose... wake up Friday AM, and watch the bikes arrive for hours and hours.... last time I was there I went home about 1PM Friday, and rode out past an incoming line of bikes for almost 45 minutes...

who wants to do that?

Thursday Night.... you will be glad you did...

With ya. Best time to go is the 15th, follow the lakeshore (Front Road, etc.) all the way to Port Burwell, eat your pickerel and perch at the Lighthouse restaurant..........

The live stream is illuminating. I'm glad people find it fun to attend PD13, Sturgis, Daytona Bike Week, but from my seat, I prefer to ride away from this sort of thing.

I have made a promise I will ride there for the next Full moon Friday the 13th, which I understand will be in 2046.

I'll be 84. It's good to have goals in life....

He was there. We were just heading back to our bikes and almost bumped into him. My eyes are still burning and am trying to get the site out of my memory.
