Plug And Play LED Light Bulb Conversion

Brand: Auxito H7 (fanless) and H9 (with fan).
Price: $70 for both and they came in pairs. Available only in pairs in Amazon. Screw it.

Why: Because my H7 Bosch low beam Xtra Brite bulb blew out after only 1 year. POS. May as well upgrade and get brighter lights.

Truly plug and play set. No modifications required. Super easy. The beam pattern is just like the OEM with the DOT cut off on the Low Beam. No shadows, or dark spots like those legacy LED light bulbs they used to sell for $70 a pair!

Are they bright? Hell yes! I don't have pictures at night because I was too busy riding and enjoying all the extra visibility I was seeing in the dark! Now I'm questioning whether I even need those Amber auxiliary lights.

Yes I'm going to upgrade that silly low mounted running light.

This guy did a YouTube review, of the H7 Low Beams from Auxito. It shows the DOT cut off and the very white light.

Great choice. I use Auxito in all my vehicles. One of the main reasons is it is a 1:1 exact beam pattern to oem halogen, not scattered and blinding like some are. Have yet to need to replace any, and my oldest set is close to 5 years old in my commuter vehicle, average 25k miles a year, and headlights are always on, as I work nightshift. Love how they light up the road! Very satisfied with Auxito.(y)

As an aside, that small "marker" light below the headlights, I simply removed mine altogether and have never missed it...headlights are always on, I have additional driving lights, and I also have my blinkers set up to be running lights as well.

Hi Adam, I assume your Gen 2 Strom 1000 uses the H7 for low beam. The one I got is fanless. I read about how their light output diminishes once they heat up (compared to the more consistent output of those with fans. If your Low Beam uses the Fanless LED bulb, did you notice a difference in brightness at all with yours as you ride down the road?

I chose the fanless Auxito H7's because they're plug and play without the bulky fan to have to fit inside the enclosure.
I don't recall the bulb numbers off hand, but they
are definitely fanless. No, I have never had any change in light output, bright as can be, always.

May be worth looking at the Novsight H7 Mini - the fan is integrated into the end of the lamp (where you'd normally have a paint cap on a halogen), and the pins are on the base of the lamp, like a standard H7, so fits fine into the cramped strom headlamp!

Also has the correct beam pattern, just make sure that you mount the bulb in the right orientation (firing horizontally, not vertically), as it can be put in either orientation, and firing vertically you get less light output. The fan is audible, just, with just the ignition on, but not when the engine is running.

I got two for $35ish with a discount code on Amazon. Once I know the lifespan of them is decent i'll flog my other to someone else in the UK!

I bought an Auxito H9?/H11 from Aliexpress but it has yet to turn up... so can't comment.

Don't want to imply Auxito is best for LED bulbs. Just seems to be popular in US Amazon website. There are other good brands. I normally source my LED bulbs from Cyclops, who use Cree chips, and are generally more higher end and stand by their products. However, my previous experience with Cyclops is not quality, but fit and chip positioning. Their bulbs are not a 1:1 to the Halogen bulbs so their Cyclops chip may not emit light at exactly the same spot as the H7 Halogen. Plus, there is no way in Hell this bulb will fit inside the VStrom's light bulb bezel and cap.

This is Auxito's updated 2023 H7 LED bulb model. It has a FAN.

^^^^ Yeah...but does it fit Gen 1-2-3 Vstroms? ^^^^
I've been holding off on this and kept going back and forth between this or aux lights. Seeing the difference in your pics, I've already added to my cart and checked out.

@Akula61 I'll follow up on whether the new version with the fan fits a G3, but looking at the pics it shouldn't be a problem if the old version fit.

This is a video from a different brand, but shows the process on a Gen 3 Wee

I have a Gen-2(12) but I have used Auxito on my Toyota/Lexus based on recommendations on those forums. Never been disappointed.
So yes, please let us all know.

Thx

The difference is big at night, with just the low beam. Has an excellent cut off too to avoid blinding oncoming traffic. So much so I no longer feel the need to turn on my Auxiliary lights.

The stock Gen 3 VStrom 650 headlight has a good reflector design. Just needed to up the brightness level. These new LED retrofits shine their light at the OEM reflectors exactly like the Halogens. It's just sending more light.

I just installed those very bulbs in my 2017 DL650 not 30 minutes ago (Cyclops). The install wasn't too hateful. The cap that covers the low beam has to be omitted once you install the LED bulb.

I don't know how that will affect the longevity of the headlight reflector if you leave the dust cover off. I imagine they put the "dust" cover there for a reason. Having said that, the high beam doesn't have a dust cover. But I believe it has a rubber cap surrounding any possible openings that may get into the reflector? Not really sure.

Nope, nothing on the back of the high beam bulb which, because it's under the low beam, seems a little more susceptible to intrusion (the low beam). I'm more worried about not hitting something I can't see with these old eyes ;) I'll get out asap to see if they need re-aming.
The high beam bulb doesn't have a rubber cover because the h11 bulb spec has a seal built into it (and should be on a bulb you install)

Edit: Here's a pic, the seal sits against the headlight housing and prevents the ingress of dirt/water.

Only time will tell if it matters.
Installed the 2023 version of the Auxito H7 bulb installs no problem in the Gen 3 650. The hardest part of it is getting the dash off so it is easier to see what you are doing.

Is there a list of Gen's and headlight types?

I see some talking about H7's H9's and H11's, besides the LED and HID bulbs too.

Thx

The user manual provides the specific bulb types in the maintenance section.

For your Gen 2 you will want to use a pair of H4 bulbs https://www.amazon.com/Upgraded-AUXITO-Headlight-Replacement-Motorcycle/dp/B09JZ6QZ6T
