Road out to the Kansas Flint with my brother. A lot of minimum maintenance roads and beautiful scenery!
Enjoying the limitations of my factory tread...
Still enjoying the factory tread...
Not enjoying the factory tires anymore....
With the Vstrom 1000, you sometimes have to pick your battles. I chose the grass this time.
Moooove Over please
As far as the eye can see!
It was an awesome day of about 300 miles altogether. I did get stuck in a flash flood back on the way home. Got to test out my waterproof pants. The temperature went from 92 degrees to 78 within 20 minutes and we got 2" of rain in 45 minutes. Crazy Midwest weather!
I bought mine last fall and finally have all the farkles in place. Made the radiator stone guard myself. I'm an 80/20 rider and set it up to reflect that. I had an FJR1300 for five years before this. The only thing I miss is the top end speed.....but I really shouldn't be doing that anyway, lol.
First Strom, bought a 2005 with 4777kms on it...had hardly seen daylight in 15 years, let alone gasp dirt. I had it for a few days and still hadn't found a blemish...then I put a magnetic tank bag on it, and found that there was a growlie under a magnet and it put a bunch of scratches on the tank. "Woot!! It's not 'new' anymore..." So I gassed up and headed for the dirt.
A nice view in around the blueberry fields.
Blackwood Lake, future V-Strom hammock-camping location...
And, went through the wind farm....in case you've ever wondered (or couldn't care less) how big those windmill blades actually are...here's a Wee for scale.
First real ride with my new to me 2017 650X. 450km in 5 hrs, lots of twisties in cottage country. Was blown away with the bikes performance. Stopped at the side of the road in Lake Rousseau to take this pic.
