Watch out for the sneaky cops out there. I have never seen so many people pulled over in one day as I did today. Put on about 250 miles. People pulled over every couple miles. The worst was cops on pedal bikes, all dressed in spandex etc up on Deer creek. they then jumped out at you to pull you over. The only way to tell they were cops was the gun on thier waste. No I didn't get a ticket, but sure would have been easy to get screwed. I wonder how many pedal bikers got tickets, I know they pay thier fair share to use the roads too:argue:

That would be the point where I swerve around him and take off, then at a safe distance, call 911 to report being accosted by a crazy man wearing a gun.

I do NOT approve of plainclothes/unmarked cars making traffic stops. How the crap do I know it's really a cop??

Even that isn't enough to ID since (outside of Denver) open carry is perfectly legal in Colorado and has a growing list of practitioners including yours truly.

This is a very different world we live in today, compared to a few years ago.....especially in regard to cops and tickets. A friend got pulled over the other day. She is in the Army and was exiting the Base. She was only 7 mph over. She asked the cop.....I am really sorry, can you please give me a break? He said, "No". We now have a policy that if we radar someone and their speed is over the limit, we must write a citation. no exceptions.

Back when we were kids, my brother had a bad experience stopping for he thought was an unmarked cop. Turns out it wasn't.

The one time an unmarked cop tried to pull me over, I waited till a marked one joined him. They threatened to take me to jail, but didn't.

I will never stop for an unmarked. Bicycles? LOL, Not a chance.

I would tend to agree, but you can't outrun radios.

I used to be one of those sneaky spandex guys. We didnt do much traffic enforcement (in fact a locker room joke used to go something like this:)

(simulating using the radio) "Control...3L1. I'm on I-5 attempting to overtake a speeding Yugo. Peddling like hell but he's pulling away".

Like I said, we did very little traffic enforcement. The bikes were used for neighborhood patrols (excellent tool) and for school zone traffic/parking enforcement mostly.

BTW...we wore uniforms very similar to the duty uniforms, not spandex. Chicks dug us, life was great!

I bet this was your favorite section:

2800.1 (b) Any person who, while operating a motor vehicle and with the
intent to evade, willfully flees or otherwise attempts to elude a
pursuing peace officer's bicycle, is guilty of a misdemeanor
punishable by imprisonment in a county jail for not more than one
year if the following conditions exist:
(1) The peace officer's bicycle is distinctively marked.
(2) The peace officer's bicycle is operated by a peace officer, as
defined in paragraph (4) of subdivision (a), and that peace officer
is wearing a distinctive uniform.
(3) The peace officer gives a verbal command to stop.
(4) The peace officer sounds a horn that produces a sound of at
least 115 decibels.
(5) The peace officer gives a hand signal commanding the person to
stop.
(6) The person is aware or reasonably should have been aware of
the verbal command, horn, and hand signal, but refuses to comply with
the command to stop.
