I recently installed a PCIII on my 04 DL1000 and noticed that the fuel maps on the PC website change quite a lot between 02-03 and 04-05 DL1000 models.

The 02-03 maps are mostly leaner than stock except for perhaps a few thousand rpm at low-mid throttle positions. The 04-05 maps are significantly richer at most rpm's below 5,500 and most throttle positions below 60%, then somewhat lean at higher loads.

Why is there such a difference in these maps?

Is the stock 04-05 F1 that much leaner than the earlier stroms ?

The 'optimum map' varies by as much as a 30% difference in the fuel settings from one model year to the next.

If these maps are accurate it makes me wonder what the engineers at Suzuki were smoking when they mapped these bikes.

PCIII mapping

I have the 2002 DL1000 that came used with a PC and I am not happy with the stock bike mapping from Dynojet. I have a huge acceleration noise/vibration problem at 2700-3400 rpm. Is this a strom trait or can this be fixed with the PC or another way? I posted this problem somewhere else in the forum too and will let you know what I dig up. Let me know what you have found. Thanks

bradpbg - That's not a mapping problem that's the clutch basket. Search on "Chudder" or "clutch basket" and you'll see all the information you could ever want to read on what the problem is and what to do to fix it.

marks655 - between 2003 and 2004 - the ECU changed from a 16 bit system (02-03) to 32 bit (2004+). The whole computer is a different beast, so naturally the settings and mapping are going to be different.

just finished a remap, just for giggles, and the bike is very different. the problem at around 3000 is now much different and I can pretty much garantee it is not a clutch issue. How could the clutch be fine at take off and then suddenly start slipping at 3000 before it reingages by itself? I'm pretty sure this is a FI problem.
