I was certain my 6 month old TREO was a goner. I was just riding along with that huge grin I always have when I'm riding. 350 Km into my 960 KM day ride and it happened. Out of the corner of my eye, I see it wobble out of it's RAM holder.... I yell OH NO! OH S**T and try to grab for it but it slips and falls. I quickly slow from 135 km/hr and turn around knowing that I'll have to find a pay phone to make the promised check in call to the wife. But there it is intact except the battery is 15 feet away and the battery cover is being blown down the road another 100 feet away. I put it back together and it boots up perfectly. Not a single mark on the front but the back is carved up a bit. I needed to ride another 200 km to find cell service. The phone works fine... I just could not believe it!

Ipod pretty tough too..

I let my friend, a KLR guy, ride the wee because he wants to buy it. I rode behind him on his KLR..through the hideous shakes, I thought I saw something fly off my bike at 65mph...I did..it was my 30gb video ipod falling out of the tank bag. I went back, picked it up..saw some nasty scrapes on two corner where it skipped down the central oregon pavement. But it was still on..the cheap protective sleeve must have helped, but damn, it still took a licking.

Friend said, "shit, I thought I just bought you a ipod"..nah...just a little more character...no problems, 1 month later and running.

needless to say, I was impressed. My daughter's nano did not do so well going through the washer and dryer..win some lose some, I guess.

Small World: Exact same thing happened to me! My Sony Treo came out of the RAM holder, hit my knee, and spun down the highway behind me. I drilled two small holes in the battery cover (above the recess for the reset button), and attach a camera strap when I carry it on my bike. (My wife text messages me, and I call back when I stop).
