I had an interesting spring ride to Canada in early May, joining over a dozen
Wee-Stroms (old and new), one Vee-Strom, and a Honda St-1300 on the
annual Ontario Spring Ride. Fine ride, fair-to-lousy weather, and a great
lunch with friends old and new. I brought Florida oranges for everybody,
and a few low-priced but worthwhile gadgets from Harbor Freight and
other outlets not represented in Canada. I have done this a few times.

Now I am back in Florida, and I hope to connect with Stromtroopers I know
here and others I have yet to meet. To that end, I wish to ride a couple of
hundred miles on Sunday October 26 2014, and I want some of you to ride
with me.

Possible destinations: Okeechobee, the City of Zombies (look for older threads
about this topic in the Florida section); barrier islands on the West Coast;
hilly stuff north of I-4; whatever you might suggest.

I will be on my 2006 Wee-Strom, named Colorado. This fine machine has 82000
miles on the dial, and will reach 100,000 sooner or later. This year
it reached its 39th, 40th, and 41st state. It has been to all Canada's
provinces. If I am industrious in the near future, I will show you a new
$20 windshield; otherwise, you will see the same scarred plastic I can
scarcely see through any more.

I hope for some interest; this section of the site has been too idle.

Hi Keith, I rode with you once a couple of years ago. We met at a truck stop on I 75 and rode to Stumpknockers. I think it was actually a BMW group ride. I'm coming down to Florida, probably arrive by Oct 25. If you ride north, like the north of I 4 ride, I would be interested in meeting somewhere and riding with you for awhile. If the ride comes that direction let me know and I will try and work something out. Thanks, Dave

Easily Persuaded

As I am south of almost all the Stromtroopers I have ridden with,
I view your suggestion as appropriate and feasible, so I will work on it.

I do not know that area very well, but that should not matter.

It seems that the "let's get the band back together" notion
crops up from time to time here, and often the Yalaha Bakery
is where we wind up meeting, so let's consider that.

Yalaha Bakery, 8210 County Road 48, Yalaha, FL 34797 (352) 324-3366

That's a couple of hours from my home, and probably the same or less
for at least a dozen of us, so perhaps we will have a decent turnout.

Thank you for the prompt and cordial reply.
I look forward to seeing you again!

Ride

That would work for me. What's your route to there, I could maybe meet you on your way there. And that's if all works out. If you get a group that needs to go another direction that's fine. I will be back in the winter, we could maybe meet then for a ride. Dave

Route? Open to suggestions.

Dave, I expect that I would head north on I-75 and get off
part way to pursue secondary roads such as US-301.

Suppose I get off I-75 at Exit 265, Fowler Avenue, then head north on 301.
I might go east on SR-50, then north on SR-33, then east on SR-48 to Yalaha.

If you propose a meeting place near that route, I am willing to meet you
at a suitable time to let us reach the restaurant well before noon.

I have started a new thread with a better title than this thread has.
Perhaps it will attract some attention from people I like riding with:

You know who you are ... Curtis, Jim, Clem, Charlie, Lou, Nroman ...
(sorry for anyone I should have mentioned)

Hello Keith

Hey Keith,
Sure has been a while. Moved back North to the 44th parallel. Not that it's permanent, Riding year round here as well, albeit slower and less frequently. I sure do miss all you guys down there. I am seldom on this board anymore. The tene is superb, and far exceeds my ability to ride it well.
Say Hi to all in those parts. Clem

We gather ... we disperse.

I miss you and your lady, and wonder if we will meet again.
I hope you visit Barry Buchanan on Mount Desert Island.
I spent a few days there and saw him often. His bike looked
just as odd in real life as it does in the photos he takes so well.

I am sure nobody rides a Super Tenere better than you do;
you taught me a lot about concentration and leaning, and perseverance.

44º, eh? That means Augusta ME or perhaps Belfast. Belfast ME is the first
place where my Wee-Strom brought me in sight of the Atlantic Ocean.
Odd, huh? Odder still is that the first ocean I saw from its saddle was the Pacific!

back to my french roots, "the dirty Lew". I surely hope we get to ride once again, probably in Canada on your annual trek. You have to let me know when your in the area. I will also be riding South again when I can steal away.

I am leaning towards a much smaller bike secondary to loving a very light bike. I still think the 650 is one of the best out there. I have been riding with the New England riders a bit, but mostly solo as the chill sets in most people tuck theirs away for the season.

Keep the forum alive Keith!

I'm still around. Had to give up the strom though. Heart disease has taken too much strength. Bought a 07 Honda reflex. Don't need the endurance on it. It's still big enough to tour with. Went toPa,upstate NY, Ontario, and Mi with it in august. Contact info. [email protected]

Happy 2015!

It's good to hear from you, Curtis.

Let's go and explore something in January.

Do you have anything in mind?
