Maybe you will find my post a bit strange or meaningless, but a question interests me since I joined to this site, the Stromtrooper community.

Time to time I notice different references, links in some of your posts pointing to other sites namely other V-Strom forums.
I recently read a post here with a link. I followed that, and found the same names there (with the same content BTW).

I did not checked it, but is it possible that members here who are proud to be a Stromtrooper also do the same on other forums?

What drives you?
Why do you go to an other site where you chat with the same people like here? Where you talk about the same things, where you get the same info, where you...
Do you feel there better? If so, why don't you participate only there? Why do you also do it here?

Perhaps I am silly, too loyal or too sensitive.

I don't want you to think that I am an @ss-licker, but this site gives me what I do expect from: wealth of information, humour, emotion, experience and friends. I do NOT need to go elsewhere to get it.

I am strongly afraid that some (if not most) of you will surely misunderstand what I wanted to express, so I clearly state that this is not to hurt anybody! Everybody do whatever he/she wants, I just wouldn't do that and will not.

You don't need to reply to this post, I just wanted to tell my feelings which sometimes are not too nice, I feel deluded. :(

I visit other site on a regular basis, even a long time member of some. This forum is one of the best. Good people and great information. I am a member of other forums because there is alot more information I can learn.

You said "Why do you go to an other site where you chat with the same people like here? Where you talk about the same things, where you get the same info"

Not the same info, maybe one forum explained something in a little more detail than others. Many times I see someone posted something in this forum and didnt go into detail on how or what they did. Another person in another forum may have done the same thing and explained it more precise. You learn more about your hobby if you spread out your mind and explore other options to increase your knowledge of your hobby. I am loyal to this site by sharing my experiances, farkles and stuff. I dont just post on one forum. What I post, or any one posts could be a posible learning experiance for someone else. Why restrict it to one place? Just my $0.02

I'll discuss V-Stroms with people wherever they may be. This site seems more people oriented and the other more technically oriented. This one is more fun and the other more businesslike to me.

Good observations Greywolf. Mokus, I understand your concern, however like GW, and most others, I will go wherever people are discussing Stroms. Both this and the other predominant Strom site are great, however from time to time it's nice to get a different "look". Both sites provide a good balance and both cover a lot of ground, they just do it in a different way. There are a couple of other Stom sites with virtually no traffic and are hardly worth logging on to.

I usually go to the other forums to get information that I couldn't get here.

I figure that there must be strommers on the other forums that don't come to this one, and I value their opinions and knowledge too.

I do like this forum though. A great bunch of people!

I have been loyal to the same woman for 28 yrs. though.

I'll post where ever I can get the relevant information. I keep the same username to keep things organized. If you google it you'll find all kinds of other activities and forums I'm active in. Computers, Cars, video games, paintball, sports, and numerous other things. :)

Greywolf hit the bullseye about how I feel. This is my favorite forum by far.....but I can get some other good info/opinions at others as well. We all have a wealth of knowledge at our fingertips! I too know that ALLOT of people are members of other moto forums. We all have the same love/interest MOTORCYCLES!!!!!

You had a good reason to bring this topic up, I don't fault you one bit. Maybe now you are getting the idea, that we are taking advantage of other resources, and getting to know other people like us.

Later,

Brian

I visit the other one to research some farkle I am thinking about. But if you check you will see I have posted 2 or 3 times more in this one than the other one. Now if you just want a general motorcycleing forum you should be visiting Motorcycle Consumer News forum at:

I visit this one only. But I'll happily look at other people's personal sites, like Reverend Biker's site for example.

Thanx, Vordak--I'm blushing...
I am active on several sites, always using the same screen name. I've found that the newer owners--who need the most help--often don't hear of the multiple forums and miss out on info. How else could explain the fact that we see a "1000 vs. 650" thread pop up every week, posted by a new member?
Gotta say, however, that this is my first stop every morning--lots of great discourse without much of the crude BS found on some other MC sites.

Hi Moku,
I have mainly gone to other Srom sites to inform them about our Stromtrooper's group rides here in New England and asked them to join. I have also posted a few local trips for Connecticut . I never got much of a response. Almost like I was invisible.

Too bad. I was hoping to build a New England relationship between the different sites and maybe create an annual New England Strom Fest. I haven't given up yet.

Maybe they don't like me comming to "their" site and asking these questions. These sites, ours too, do become like virtual communities and maybe some members don't take kindly to "strangers".

I found out about this forum from the other VStrom forum. Like others who have commented, this site is friendlier and more open to discussion, while the other one is better for more technical matters.

I find that I visit this site daily, but the other one only once or twice a week. Perhaps there is an argument to combine the two into one large group, but then each would lose its individual characteristics. So I'll continue to visit both.

I lurk on other forums but belong to Stromtroopers because it works for me. I agree with the Rev, no crude BS. We help each other when we can, support each other and make friends we would not otherwise have. Have personally met with some riders here and was pleased to meet them every time. I like to think that Stromers are good people and hope they think of me the same way. There is a common bond here, the bikes of course but also the maturity level and way of thinking and acting.

Which Forum?

I have joined here and VSRI as a new Strommer, to get as much info as I can about my chosen bike, and to meet other Strommers. There are different opinions within this site and between this and others. I just want to read as many as i can, then form my own. Have already had a lot of good information from both sites, for which I am and remain grateful.

I also belong to www.foc-u.co.uk, a wonderful site for Fazer owners (and other makes too), because they run far more regular rides in the UK than this or the other strom forum, and are lovely people. I'm sticking with them too.

I don't consider that in any way disloyal to anyone - if Stromtrooper doesn't do what I want I'll either try to get them to do so, or go elsewhere. No problem.

Balazs, I'm not much of a talker, or poster, for that matter. I am truely curious how someone who has posted 929 times on this site since joining in April, 2006 would be so curious about other peoples' forum hopping habits. This is not a criticism but merely an observation from someone who perhaps does not make friends as easily as you.

I am a member of other forums as well; ADVrider, VSRI, PNWriders. All interesting forums but they do have a lot of BS. This is a great forum and I do enjoy being a part of it.
