I sent the following email to Jim:

I wanted to describe what my goal is and then see what you suggest I buy.
I have a 2005 DL650. I've purchased a Stebel Nautilus horn. I also have a Zumo 550 currently wired back to the battery, and would like to add some heated handgrips and a 12V power outlet plug for my cell phone charger.

I know I need a harness for the horn and relay, but I'm not sure how to handle the other items. What do you suggest?
He suggested a Centech AP-1 fuse panel, his single horn harness, but then he lost me at:

You can then run a Socket Kit and tap power for the Zumo off of that. You can use a pair of Posi-Taps or I have a special Socket Power Tap with fuseholder that will work.

Checkout my Socket Wiring Page for the best solution for your socket

Anyone order one for their Strom?

He has 18" to 60" harnesses available, trying to figure out which one is best.

Anything electrical confuses me so I hope you get your answer.

Electrical circuits and electricity are like a fine woman.............the more you screw with it sooner or later it will bite you!

Yeah, I ordered a harness from him for my stebel horn. It came right away, and his communication is good. I'd order from him again.

Ok I joined here now I can answer this. By the way if you don't understand something I say, please just say so and I'll clarify. I get tons of questions every day and it's hard to answer each and every one in high detail.

I was suggesting you can power a GPS by tapping your socket leads with two Posi-Taps. These fine products do not harm you wires like Scotchlocks and are great for low current applications.

Why bother with a dedicated socket and plug for such low current devices you always remove from the bike, just tap power and leave the wire in place. Chances are you always have the GPS onboard anyway.

If you don't have a socket onboard yet to tap, I have a lot of options for wiring one in.

And you can tap power and ground in many other places.

You should use an inline fuseholder for the GPS circuit, usually the power cord with the GPS you'll be using has one build in anyway. Or you can use a Posi-Lock Fuseholder that is easy to put inline in any wire without soldering or crimping.

Thanks for the update.

Did you get a V-Strom? What length harness do I need for to mount the Centech fuse box?

Holly Crap!! You have a ton of really nice stuff for sale there. I checked out your site and it's awesome. I haven't bought anything yet but I will be picking up the headlight harness with modulator once my checking account recovers from my recent First Gear pants purchase.

I was a Navy electrician for 15 years and have done all of my own electrical stuff on bikes for many years but for the price and quality I'll be buying from you.

Very nice looking stuff!!

A+ for easternbeaver.com

+1 for Jim's products. I've used his single headlight, single horn, dual horn, dual headlight, and aux. light (driving lights) relay kits on my cruiser and my Strom with no issues whatsoever. The guy flat knows his motorcycle electrics, and he turns out some high-quality products.

It's definitely to our advantage that he's an excellent vendor and an avid biker.

Just my 2 cents.

+1 also. I have used the sockets and wiring for my 12V outlets on my Strom and also have a set for my ATV.
The Eastern Beaver site has a ton of options for just about anything you would want to connect to a motorcycle.
The kits are very easy to install and are quality products. Jim is great with email and will be able to help you with your questions.
Also look at the wiring diagrams and installation tips on this forum.
