On My Way to Strom Ownership
After many years of being a Harley owner it is finally time to give up that shield and stripe. I was basically born into the brand as both my parents as well as all of my aunts and uncles rode HDs. The bike is a 2002 Dyna Glide Super Sport (FXDX).
About a year ago I got a job as a technician at a Suzuki/Ducati dealership, and oh man have my eyes been opened to what else is out there in the motorcycle world. I am now selling the Harley and looking to get a Strom. I have been, and still am, sort of torn between the 650 and the 1000. Going to check out a 2022 650XTA for sale at a dealership nearby, but I also have my eyes on a 1000 for sale on the forums here that is close to where I live here in NC.
Very excited to get into a different kind of bike. A very different kind of bike.

A quick search of Cycletrader.com shows a lot of Vstroms out there, both new and used. Some new ones are in the eight thousand dollar range and some used ones are overpriced as high as fourteen thousand. There are literally hundreds out there including many in North Carolina.
Thanks all, I'm in no huge hurry. Going to list the Harley and see if that sells any time soon, if not I might just add a Strom to the garage come winter time if prices drop during storage time. I wasn't really pushing for a new Strom because I know how reliable these bikes are.

There is a 2004 DL1000 listed on here that I am interested in, they happen to be pretty close to Raleigh. Just waiting on the 20days of membership before I am able to reply to the for sale thread.

Welcome!! My story too! i own a harley 2011 FXDC (still listed for sale...) and bought 2021 DL650XT last month from a Market place posting. I'm in "accessory addition" mode now but 500 miles on the wee and i can't stop smiling how much different, effortless and fun to ride it is!Thanks all, I'm in no huge hurry. Welcome and I came to the Strom from a Dyna SuperGlide looking for something different. Have since added some Sportsters and another Dyna back into the garage at prices too good to pass up. I enjoy riding all kinds of bikes, but the Strom is my main bike and especially for travel.

Thanks gang. Have a good amount of interest on the Harley, it's priced to sell quickly. I do see myself getting another Harley down the road for some around town riding but a Strom just seems so much more practical for my riding and what I'd like to do more of. Very excited to get into Strom ownership.
