Anyone here from OKC? What do you think about a ride when the weather warms up a bit?

I would like to hit some dirt roads, but I don't have much experience riding anything but asphalt. Thought it would be fun to tool around with someone who does.

I live in Edmond (suburb just north of OKC), and will hopefully be getting my wee pretty soon. I'm waiting on an insurance check that's taking forever. I'm not a dirt rider either, but would love to try some easy dirt roads as soon as I've got the bike.

Sound good. You can PM me once you get your bike and we get some better riding conditions. What kind of bikes have you ridden in the past? Or is this your first?

I had been riding a Yamaha Majesty (giant scooter) since '06, until it was hit by a truck last October. I had a smaller scooter before that. I was thinking about getting another scooter, but I started looking into bikes and the v-strom just kind of spoke to me. There's a pretty good deal on a well outfitted '07 at a dealership in OKC right now.

There's a few of us in the area. I'm on the east side of Midwest City. A number of us got together last year for a ride down to Meers.
There's no organization or structure, just pick a weekend that looks good to you for a ride and post it up, I'm sure you'll get some takers. :)

Shalo,

I think you picked the right bike to transition to from your scooters. I always wanted to try a Burgman for commuting. My local dealer says it would blow a VTX 1300 off the road.

Of course, I didn't buy the Wee to blow people off the road. But it is a ton more fun to ride than my 750 Shadow. You are going to really like it.

I'm in Choctaw, and would love to tag along. Myself and a friend who rides a DR 650 have spent a lot of hours finding dirt roads near OKC. Check out the area to the north of Luther for some fun little roads that'll take you through Fallis, Meridian, and other towns I'd never heard of.

Oh, and if you want to meet some great people and see beautiful country, this is a great event. All skill levels and bikes are represented. I'm taking the Wee this year, and will be riding the logging roads as far as I'm comfy. They can get a little hairy, but I ain't skeered to turn around eithr.
